Ok, just finished upgrading all of my WIN11 PCs (3) 1 Supported, 2 Unsupported Hardware)) / Laptops (2) 1 Supported, 1 Unsupported Hardware)) :) with The Enablement Package to 25H2 which are very quick upgrades. Hardest part is running Windows Update on the older units...they are so slow...

For the moment it does, but there is talk of restricting it.

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:
  • Open Notepad:
    • Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
    • CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
    • Save as OpenIE.vbs
  • Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
  • Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer.

Thx, I watched the video. Most of what he is saying is true for the basic user but you can still control the same things in WIN11 as you did in WIN10 it is basically the same core...

Here are few things he is wrong about:

Dual Boot, not sure why his Linux partitions are getting wiped, maybe from a major yearly update/upgrade? Like 23H2 to 24H2? But I get it, Microsoft Updates sucks, always have...

TPM is Not required in order to get Windows Updates, I have 3 systems that do not have TPM running WIN11 which gets updates.

I have Never had a Microsoft Account, I have always logged in locally. Also, have never used BitLocker, nor have had it defaulted to On by any O/S including WIN11. So kinda lost what he is referring to here...

Updates, you can still disable them all together, I have mine set to Manual, so no Automatic Downloading/Installing of Updates. What sucks in Updates is you can't pick and choose which update you want installed. I think this was the case in WIN10 too though. But I think you can download the Updates you want yourself and install them, or you use to be able to do that.

To Disable, Run services.msc go to Windows Updates

His Linux partition was wiped out because he did not get a warning in Disk Management? Anyone with a Dual Boot system knows Windows has never recognized a foreign partition.

My Experience is I have not found any differences he mentioned from WIN10 to WIN11, I don't use Copilot or any AI, they are all turned off, even Google's. No forced BitLocker, or TPM or Secure Boot. But I do have a newer CPU, 14700k that I will be installing WIN11 on, will see if anything changed since I first installed/ran Windows 11 when it first came out. I know new CPUs now have TPM built into them, but in my 12th Gen 12900k I can turn this (Secure Boot) off in BIOS.

Where he is right about one thing, Microsoft sucks, always has. They push more and more for us to have less privacy. AI, theirs and everyone else's big push. Wait till Windows 12 gets released, they want dominance...only thing holding them back is their Enterprise customers...as with consumers they already have most in their Cult. Also, thank God for Linux, Ubuntu is a very stable O/S, I have a few boxes running it. Latest I read is Microsoft is entertaining the idea that Windows 12 will be a subscription cloud service like their 365 stuff. I don't do Office 365, I buy an Office Key. Still use Outlook, PST, which I think went away with Office 2024, but don't hold me to this.

One thing he did not touch base on is how OEM versions of Windows marry themselves to your hardware Motherboard/CPU to have a Digital Activation. Retail versions still use Product Keys and can be transferred between PCs. But I am guessing Digital Activation is partly because so many people lose their Product Keys and whine to Microsoft about it...

So got the motherboard removed from Corsair Vengeance C70 case and into another case (Thermaltake Element G), haha, I got some old cases :). My AIO is coming today, had to return the Arctic 280mm, it would not fit, but not like you think since the Arctic's radiator is thicker (38mm) than other brands which actually would of worked, it was the length of the AIO that would not fit, only by about 3/8s of an inch too long...:( The Fan cage on top of the C70 is raise up about a 1/4 inch above the case, but since it angles up at the ends the Arctic was just a bit too long.

Had to drop down to a 240mm so ordered this AIO:

UPDATE:
Got my new motherboard installed in the C70 case, all cables connected. Installed the Thermalright AIO Radiator/Fans, all cables connected. Only thing left is thermal paste and mount the CPU Block and connect the last cables, the CPU Block connects to an ARGB v5 header and the 480x480 Display has an USB C power cable. This AIO is different than others in that the Cooler Pump is not on the CPU Block but it is actually mounted on/next to the Fan/Radiator. Hopefully having the Pump higher than the CPU will not be a problem since I Top Mounted the AIO in the C70 case...I have read so many different theories about this, some people like the pumps low to keep air at top of hoses. Most all the reviews I saw about these AIOs were highly recommended, so hopefully I am good...

Ok so she is finished, I refer to all my PCs as she :) well my vehicles too...guess in a way I have Concubines, LOL

She is running cool at idle (AIO Install was not bad, ARGB Headers is new to me so the CPU Block and Radiator Fans each required one, good thing my Motherboard has three):

I did update the BIOS right away so hoping I am good with this 14 Gen Intel Proc., but it does now have a 5 year warranty due to the 13 & 14 Gen Proc. issues...

Lord, AMI BIOS has been around it seems like forever ^^^. :headbang:

Just guessing at the date but I think I first had it in a 386SX circa '92, over 33 years ago!

My Windows 11 (25H2) Experience (Installed with Zero Internet):
After looking Online, it does look like Microsoft is trying to push/force people to create or log into a/their Microsoft account.

So, I thought I would try something, in BIOS I turned Off WiFi and Ethernet NICs. Sadly, that did not work.

Also in my search to not have to Create/Login a Microsoft Account, I found a few options (regedit, services to stop, etc.) allowing you to create a LOCAL Account. This is the one I chose that worked great for me on my Windows 11 (25H2) Install:

NOTES:
One thing I did noticed when I turned my Network Interfaces back On in BIOS is Windows did load a driver for the Ethernet NIC but not the WiFi NIC. Reminded me of the old days when you had a Motherboard CD with all your drivers you had to load. Once I get connected to the Internet I am sure all the missing drivers, or most, will show up. Now I know why someone online complained about Windows not having WiFi on their No Internet/No Microsoft Login install. Apparently they only had WiFi, and no Ethernet Port (laptop?), or if they did they did not know they could Ethernet cable up to their router/switch?

To turn Off Copilot:
Yep Microsoft sucks...You have to Enable this to turn it Off?????????

Hit Windows START button, type:
gpedit

User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Copilot
Double Click on: Turn off Windows Copilot
Set to Enabled

The PC I am replacing the 6700k with the 14700k has a Nvidia 1070 Ti Video Card. It will be replaced with a 2070 Super which will be able to utilize GPU encoding...kewl

If your GPU allows this encoding it will show as an option under the Video Tab (this is from my 12900k PC 3080 card):

WOW, WOW, WOW

I just tried Handbrake NVENC Encoding with my Nvidia 2070 SUPER on this new PC (14700k), oh my, what use to take 30 minutes to encode only took 5 or less...WOW this is really kewl...

I got it now as my Preset/Goto:
