big question:
why you rescale all videos to 1080p (FullHD)? Or YouTube don't support Dahua 4MP ( 2688 × 1520)?

this can be many things:

  • all footage we see (both from @jmcu and @duplo) are one/two times rescaled & recompressed.. for now no one have published original footage at native camera resolution...
  • 59PRO-ZE can be wrongly focused...
  • 59PRO have very open aperture (F1.0 for AS, F1.2 for ZE) which can create sharpness / shallow focus problems.. I asked for footage with Iris open to 100, but normally Iris is open to 50 on this model (so aperture is closed to something like F1.6 or F1.8) - in this settings sharpness should be similar to 54IR-ZE..
  • sharpening algorithms can works different.. 54IR is known from over sharpening at default settings... we don't know how 59PRO behave here...

ok.. thanks for a lot of footage...

one more thing: if you will record more, please always limit 2D & 3D noise to 30...
at default 50 they don't help and only create a lot of problems (lots of ghosting / blur around your movement)..

Also in encode settings you can always move smooth stream to 40 (or even 30) - this will increase compression bandwidth for small changes every video frame like your movement. this should decrease every 2 seconds (every I-frame) pulsing thing at grass.

Not true, youtube MAY compress somehow, but jmcu youtube video has 1440p max res
I upload to google drive, the player seems using 1080p, but you can still download the file to your pc and you have the original file smart player made from the dav download from the camera.

that can be, but i used floodlight at night to make sure the focus is correct, which you dont see on the videos

all videos i showed are made with 100 iris, i included all settings used. settings not named are default.
The sharpness is much worse if you use another firmware. There were many testings before from jcmu with different firmwares. This one seems the best at the moment. There may be some better in future.

I tested that already, it will not make any huge difference in sharpness.
I even turned off 3D NR at day, also not making the picture looks like the 54ZE sharpness.

Can post some videos later/tomorrow.

OK, I wrote this reply before read your answer that Youtube didn't show 1440p version of Your videos in default video player..

@jmcu did crazy things with re-stream HDMI video output from NVR (which normally is 4K, but if streamed from channel zero on NVR and not external hardware HDMI encoder, it's rescaled to FullHD by NVR) and then rescaled to 1440p because this is native resolution of his computer..

OK - so this is firmware thing - wrong default sharpness settings.
So you can try to increase sharpness settings in 59PRO camera to emulate that.

on some of your night footage I saw a lot of softness / blurred areas around your body (in places where you left in last 1-2 seconds)..

this is artifact from 3D NR.. plus some grass softness can be also created by 3D NR...

WizColor is using much much more 3D NR than previous cameras like 54IR on default settings.
3D NR is very effective to remove >90% of the noise (in case of static images can remove even 99%)...

but can create artifacts..

moving into Smooth means more data (bandwidth) is allocated to small changes between individual (delta) frames in video stream at a cost of I-frames.

moving into Clear means more data (bandwidth) is allocated to a full redraw of the entire image, which occurs every i-frame (usually every 2 seconds with default settings) at a cost of small changes between all (delta) frames...

Here are the final samples from me for this set as I need to move on to some other projects. (small SD3 2mp and 4mp "cheap" 16x PTZ cams and some "super" NVR's)
I think all these cameras are very good depending on your location and budget.
These are recorded from the camera's web GUI @ 1440.

I tried to get the same settings for all the cameras for comparison.
The first part is with no LED illumination and then @ ~ 6:50 I have the LED's coming on and then some AI SSA enabled.
