I'm designing a system that will watch a large FOV using static cameras as well as 1 PTZ to zoom in and look into "suspicious" movements (automatically using code) that the other cameras alert about.
I need advice about the PTZ camera as it seems hard to find suitable candidates, any leads about candidates or info about how to find them or what to look for will be welcomed.

My requirements for that PTZ camera are these:
1. I need to control the camera using code, direct its view relative to another vector that I can calculate at any time - to my understanding it has to be ONVIF profile S or T compliant
2. I need to track objects using my own custom tracking algorithm, the objects can be static or move at certain speeds and need to be tracked at certain precision
3. It has to be able to look at the horizon and also upwards into the sky, with as much pan and tilt ranges and speeds as possible
4. Optical zoom of at least x10

Thanks ahead for any help!

Drone or UFO patrol?

What are you programming with?

There may be a few parts of your task already covered by existing software.
I'm going for drones, planes and everything in between, I'm using python for prototyping and then C++
I'm interested, which tasks and what software are you referring to?

Well, most every camera product comes with brand specific software with most of those features.

The wheel you want to create is already invented, along with a lot of tire options to go on it. Save yourself some work. I thought most coders typically copy code more than write anyways…

Blue Iris has stuff, several others mentioned here.

ubiquity is doing AI stuff on top of their base software

You’ve essentially described using tripwires to direct the PTZ to the area where the event occurred.

Somebody else was asking about reading plane numbers moving about an uncontrolled airfield to track things. Presumed because the pilots weren’t recoding their visits in the log to save on $8 tie down fees or something.

Corporate example:

Well, this isn't the case here, I managed to create an algorithm so power efficient that it can detect drones from hundreds of meters away using only a weak edge device such as a smartphone in high fps and with extreme resolutions, I don't believe there are many of these solutions around nor have I found an AI camera that does what I need done.
Thank you for your opinion and response though

Thank you! this is a good candidate, are you personally familiar with EmpireTech? have you by any chance purchased one of their products / know someone who did?

Almost everyone here has bought from Empiretech. It is Dahua OEM.

Highly respected vendor here.

Thank you for your reply, I'll probably buy a new one :)
Just to make sure this absolutely does fit my requirements - can you confirm that the relative and absolute move features from a client which are mandatory only in ONVIF profile T are implemented in this model?

aha, the refurbished PTZ is sold right now.
Which software you are going to use? If use with BI or Frigate should be ok. Yes if support onvif the pan/tilt zoom are basic functions.

ONVIF (Profile S&G&T) Support.
