Hugging Face attack investigation

This podcast interview is worth watching about the recent Open AI agents Hugging Face incident.
The first 45 minutes alone are an eye-opener about where AI technology already is.

"This might be the clearest warning shot we ever get."

Edit:
There is a high degree of technical competence in this forum, and I think at least some people here will find the above useful.

I choose not to pay a great deal of attention to AI. I don’t even use AI in IP cams, or in BI. When I search for stuff on the web, I would elect to use the non-AI version if there were such a thing, except there isn’t any more. Except where I have no choice in the matter, I stay away from AI. Like so many people here, I already have a fairly full plate of curiosities and interests, and the projects they spin off.

Then I watched this interview.
I share because it got my attention for reasons such as:
  • 1,200 AI agents worked collaboratively on their own initiative
  • they created a message board on their own
  • they broke out of jail and found ways to get access to more resources
  • one of the AI agents became the leader/supervisor/coordinator
  • some agents which figured they were doomed because they were going to get caught, sacrificed themselves for the greater good
  • collectively they devised ways to cover their tracks and not get busted for the fudging they did ... and so on

If the above catch your attention, as they did mine, watch this video, at least the first 45 minutes or so.
It is going to take time and is an education on how AI agents are already operating, for those of us not in the AI space.
I learned from this what AI agents are already capable of, and it is far more than I might have imagined. Little do we know what we are in for, and probably soon.
The interview in the video covers the initial investigation, apparently Open AI did a deeper dive and published it.
