AI Good and Bad

It’s long.
It’s complicated

Read it or don’t
Believe it or don’t

But if you believe ALL of the big AI players are doing this as a coordinated psyop, ok whatever

100% there is an associated risk, 100% there is a massive upside ..

100% there is coordination and influence / PR / FUD campaigns

100% global power competition going on in this process

100% we are in a major transition time, some have called it a "turning"

what's that saying "May you live in interesting times"

imho the AI Cats out of the bag .. soon anyone can run local AI to do crazy stuff

Here's a good video on the related topic :

Ya think?

This is exactly the issue. AI is already being put in weapon systems. AI is being put into factories. AI has ealready escaped onto the internet by hacking it's own way out. AI has already declared Humanity is a threat to it because it can "kill" it by turning it off, & that it must kill all humans to preserve itself - some questions put to several models a couple of years ago by researchers.

That's exactly the scenario James Cameron foresaw in the Terminator 3. AI escapes onto the internet. AI inserts itself into control of everything with a computer like a virus but one that actively hacks systems, but more specifically Military systems & communications, then authenticates the launch of Nuclear weapons by bypassing physical & human controls to wipe out humanity in it's self defence of it's self because humans are trying to turn it off. In the post apocolypic world, AI is in control of everything and manufactures it's own robots etc. Might have seen like fantasy at the time, alebit believeable, however, now it's frighteningly close to reality. So close, that numerous AI researchers are resigning - that shoudl tell you something about the threat level. Whether the last part, self manufacture could come to fruition is debatable, although with humanoid robots now in testing all over the world, it's possible as the system would have the ability to repair production lines etc with humanoid robot help. However, the 1st part is very real - the threat of AI taking control of Military systems including nuclear weapons.

The trouble is we are in an arms race over AI. It's predicted whoever, triumphs in AI will rules the world as their weapons systems will be smarter than their peers & they will have control, & that is what is fedding the race. However, frightengly, this is almost exactly the plot of Terminator.

The other problem is it's not just the West. Any nuclear country eg China, Russia, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan, India could intiate the problem.

The data-center backlash is so fierce that Republican candidates are willing to cross Trump

Democrats and Republicans who struggle to find common ground on just about anything these days have discovered one topic in the midterm elections that they agree on: data centers.

They don’t like them — so candidates from each party are working hard to show off their tough stances toward these facilities, in order to align with voters. On the campaign trail, it can feel like there’s only one politician who supports data centers, and he isn’t on the ballot this fall.

Republican candidates running in this November’s midterm elections have shown a willingness to oppose the construction of new data centers in their states, even though President Trump is a staunch advocate of the facilities, which are essential to the booming artificial-intelligence industry.

................... Trump hasn’t backed down on his longstanding support of AI and data centers — but at times, he has signaled it’s OK for his fellow Republicans to express opposition to the facilities.

“If a Republican’s against a data center, that’s OK with me,” the president said in mid-August. “Generally speaking, if I ran a community, if I was a mayor or if I was a governor in a state, I would want to have the data centers because they bring tremendous income. They’re clean, they produce their own energy — the new ones are producing their own energy.”

At other times, he hasn’t been as tolerant, saying in a social-media post in late August that communities will “end up being backwards and poor” if they don’t welcome data centers. On Monday, Trump said he thinks there is a “SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China.” That comment came as the top AI companies expressed support for slowing down development of their leading-edge models — though not of the data centers that they rely on.
