Perhaps he should have just avoided the comment because he cannot win. If he said he wanted to drive the price of homes down then you'd have to deal with concerns about foreclosures where people would be upside down in their mortgage then just walk away. Don't worry, the gubermint will figure out a way to do a "one time" tax on it or come up with some kind of redistribution of it to others who were under 18 but didn't qualify for the $1K or the parents will figure out a way to get access to it in the name of an "emergency". p.s.
