    Super cool. Listing AAC first trips up a lot of otherwise decent pipeline. Ulaw works as it is an actual communication codec, but American/japanese products are so screwed up and worthless it’s best just to alaw everything.

    Are they really that aggressive? You're also mentioning exposure times in the 30's. I don't get close to half of that even with my old night color 2.0 cams.

    I'm confused about all the Exposure Compensation and License Plate Exposure and stuff you're mentioning. Does this camera not have manual gain and exposure limits?

    Tapo is fine. They make pan tilt with full room view for basically free. go2rtc tapo:/ integration is really good so frigate functionality is fine. Just make sure you have a wired access point nearby.

    Same person just released a go2rtc pull request for a private protocol. backchannel. Basically makes the Dahua work just like a Tapo which is an upgrade for a lot of these cameras.

    4k-t has a fixed focal length so a fixed iris naturally gives a steady aperture. As you increase focal length, you should be letting in more light to help compensate, but the 3 series doesn’t do that. I would imagine those get pretty starved for light as you zoom in at night. We know Dahua...

    Focal length is not iris. Being verafocal is why fixed iris is an issue.
