    Mail Thieves

It's an eight family gang-box, and it's on the easement to my property already. I can't move it.

    Mail Thieves

The gang-box has a front and a back. The front faces the street and has the main door which exposes all eight individual boxes. The back, on the sidewalk side, has the eight individual doors which are all keyed differently. When the postal worker drives up on the street side she uses a master...

    Mail Thieves

The gang-box is across a sidewalk, so I'd have to burrow under that to get power or Cat5 'at' the gang-box. The tricky part is getting something out there that won't itself just get stolen. The log-pile camera is completely unnoticeable unless you were to actually wonder why there's a log pile...

    Mail Thieves

Seems to happen a lot around Christmas, but other times as well. I currently have a Dahua bullet camera in a hollow log, one of three hollow logs in a log pile, that captured video of the thieves. Last week I missed the action by about 10 minutes, but called the Sheriff's Dept and they sent me...

    Stubborn Camera

Explain? The camera worked perfectly connected to my laptop with the browser app. Connecting it to my NVR using a different cat5 cable the software recognizes it, loads it to the bottom half of the window without any prompting from me, but remains red, and not connecting.

The camera is getting power, just not passing data:

    Stubborn Camera

Thank you for all the suggestions! I pulled the camera down and connected it to the NVR with a different cable - no change Brought the camera inside, connected to the laptop, held the reset button for 10-12 seconds, and used the SADP tool to make sure the ONVIF was enabled, and connected it to...

    Stubborn Camera

Dahua NVR and Annke Pan/Tilt camera. It was connected and working fine, although it would occasionally disconnect. Pulling the camera's network cable and reconnecting would reset it and it would work fine again. I wanted to swap the network cable at the NVR to another port and then the whole...

    Mailbox Jacked, Camera Disguise Questions

As mentioned, it's a gang box, so eight small compartments with doors on the sidewalk side, and one big door on the street side so the mail delivery person can drive up.

    Mailbox Jacked, Camera Disguise Questions

I have visible cameras on the house. I won't hang cameras in the trees - don't want to be "that guy..." Any ideas about how the motion detection works?

    Mailbox Jacked, Camera Disguise Questions

Thanks all! I will come up with something, but what I really need to understand is how the motion sensing works. I don't want the disguise to obscure any sensor. This is the camera mounted on the house. the red arrow is the mailbox, the green circle is roughly where I'll put the camera.

    Mailbox Jacked, Camera Disguise Questions

Christmas morning I was up at 5am, as always look out the front bedroom window and make sure the HMMWV is still there, general look around, etc... and see a red light way out at the gang mailbox. Not unusual, there are seven houses that use the box. What caught my eye was that it looked like...

Annke PTZ Camera on Dahua NVR - No Motion Detection?

OK, figured it out. I had set the NVR GUI but the schedule was on ... something other than motion. I just did a copy from one of the cameras that was successfully recording motion to the new camera and everything has been working since.
