need help purchasing a camera system

Wow, the price of them compared to the muck I use. I'd love to get my hands on some of them to compare.

need help purchasing a camera system

You could download blueiris and give it a shot. You get a week trial and it should connect to your existing cameras no problem. I really like how much you can customize the motion detection as well. I've never tried custom sound alerts, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're included.

I have a HI3516D camera with terrible hardcoded settings, is it posssible to change these?

For anyone in the future that finds this thread, here's the answer: How to: Set custom video encoding parameters for any camera that uses "CMS" for configuration .

How to: Set custom video encoding parameters for any camera that uses "CMS" for configuration .

I've purchased a few cheapo cameras from China and the biggest annoyance so far has been the crappy bitrate settings the manufacturer has imposed. I'm assuming they're doing this so it looks like the camera is very efficient and recordings take up little space, but the picture quality is so...

I have a HI3516D camera with terrible hardcoded settings, is it posssible to change these?

Oh I seen that thread! I've two of these cameras now, one is only 20 euro, but both have the same issue that the manufacturer has locked the upper bitrate to a stupidly low level. I've two possible solutions so far 1. I've found the location of the current encoder configuration in the...

I have a HI3516D camera with terrible hardcoded settings, is it posssible to change these?

Oh yes, that's available. It's still locked to the same bitrate settings though. I've actually packet sniffed that and grabbed the configuration packet that gets sent to the camera in hopes I could edit it, but it won't respond to my custom packets :/ >The actual program name in Linux is...

I have a HI3516D camera with terrible hardcoded settings, is it posssible to change these?

Just a bit of an update, managed to load default firmware from Hisilicon for the 3516D chipset on to the camera in the hope that it might load default settings. This worked, but unfortunately killed the quality on the camera and didn't unlock the bitrate. I was able to get the camera back on the...

It is on the network, but I'm unsure what you mean by xmeye interface?

I have a HI3516D camera with terrible hardcoded settings, is it posssible to change these?

Hi All! I have a HI3516D camera that I'm able to edit the configuration of using CMS. Now the problem here is that the configuration on the camera has locked the bitrate down to stupidly low levels depending on frame rate. For example, I want CBR 6000kb/s at 10FPS with H.265 encoding. The...

Is there something similar to OnVif device manager that support H.265 (onvif v.23 and up)

YES YES YES!! Brilliant. I can even turn off and configure the overlay using this. I was about to bin this camera! Whats happened here is that by default, CMS finds and selects the onvif stream and lets you view this. You need to manually change the port to "34567" to enable the configuration...

Is there something similar to OnVif device manager that support H.265 (onvif v.23 and up)

As I said, I have the password in already, so it's not that. I think it's the port that's the issue, I'll try 34567 later. Think @alastairstevenson was on the right track!

Is there something similar to OnVif device manager that support H.265 (onvif v.23 and up)

I added another user using ONVIF device manager and could log in under that too, but I still get the same error when I try the remote config button.

Thanks @pozzello, I have looked and can't find anything that seems applicable. According to the webpage for these cameras, the user is admin and the pass is blank.

@pozzello Here's what I get when I click the remote config button:

Can you show the cam configuration? I'll test again later, but that remote configuration option just gets me a "Not logged in!" error. In the documentation for CMS they made it look like that section was for DVR remote config, so I never questioned it any further.
