    thanks for the info. i did read something about this. idk that BI could be installed to run as a service on win; i also was unaware that win had this capability. upon learning this, the transition was immediate. this is a great feature & all that was needed. no winserver on the horizon.

    i am not confused about it. i don't want the computer desktop active while shopping, etc. or when sleeping at night. then it is logged out, it is inaccessible except to someone with the password.

    right. this is the reason that the win server seemed the best route. i didn't realize it would run as a service, which makes it much more usable/valuable. it is best to 'log out' if a computer is running.

    after a bit of 'investigation' it is now clear the 'best' way here is to use BI as a service on the win 11 desktop & log out while not using/needing the BI monitoring. this is slick and will work fine. thx.

    this is pretty cool implementation here with the VPN at the gateway. all that was necessary was to include the IP address of the WiFi Bridge primary transceiver to cover everything 'below' it. all that is necessary to cover all the cameras on the 610 AP is to add it.

    after perusing the WWW a bit today i landed on surfshark VPN since it was configurable in this tp-link router. piece of cake & have a 'new residence'.

    it seems this tplink router won't do the tailscale without openwrt & i don't want to go this route. i do want to add a vpn but in a 'streamlined way'. the nordvpn will install on this router, but it's not free. so when you say don't use port forwarding, you mean wireguard?

    i don't quite understand what you are saying here about 'exposing my server to the internet'. are you referring to BI on a win 2025 server?
