So its....specific to windows machine and I mean, being able to connect INTO the machine from outside the network. So inbound traffic to the unupdated machine. It also wouldnt allow remote viewing through the web UI.
Might have been just a coincidence, but since we are all probably using different types and brands of firewalls - who knows. I am pretty sure when it happened before, I looked and my firewall blocking access to an unupdated desktop can happen. I guess I can turn updates off again and see how...
I had originally turned off the auto updates on both of these computers, but that caused problems being able to connect into them when they went without the update (im guessing firewall didnt like it).

I tried deleting the camera and adding it back using your method of putting in the IP address. Same deal - just (default). The camera works, but as soon as I add "&unicast=true&proto=Onvif" to the stream profile I get the port error.
