Local residents gathered outside the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles on Sunday to celebrate the arrest of Nicolas Maduro, but tensions began to rise after a security guard from the Chinese Consulate began threatening participants with pepper spray.

According to the event organizer, towards the end of the event, the security guard followed through with his threats and began pepper-spraying the crowd. Eight people were injured, with three people taken to the hospital for treatment.

The security guard was later arrested by the police at the scene. Records from the Inmate Information Center show he is currently facing a felony-level charge.
