US Elections (& Politics) :)

Pay down the debt and quit spending on nonsense. Sheesh!
I'm with this too, but none of the free stuff voters are, and we're greatly outnumbered. Plus most of the corporations will support helicopter money because the free stuff people will spend it right away, and the incumbent politicians will like it because the free stuff people will continue to vote for them.

Hmmm, not sure, our kids are in their 30-40s...maybe so...

Truthfully, I am with @Sybertiger :

"GDI, quit handing out money. Pay down the debt and quit spending on nonsense. Sheesh!"

Never have been for free money nonsense handouts...If I remember right we never even cashed one of our checks we got way back. Think we talked ourselves into cashing them though later but gave the money to the church or charity, if my memory serves me right. I know TurboTax kept asking if we got one...

If $2k comes our way now? Don't really know what we will do, guessing after praying on it, we will give it to someone in need...we try to leave those decisions to the Big Guy in the Sky :)

Fully agree with both of you.
Worth noting that a report this week showed the US consumer is or will soon be paying for close to 70% of the tariffs.
Remember foreign sellers don’t pay, the importer pays, passes it to the domestic seller, who at some point passes it to you.

It’s your money you’re getting back

The opinion is that domestic companies have held off passing much of it on, but have become impatient as their costs rise and will over the coming months pass much if not most of it to the consumer.

Trump Won. Democrats Lost.

At long last, well over a month after it started, it appears that we are now nearing the end of the government shutdown, because last night, Democrats in the Senate caved.

Eight of them approved moving forward with the procedural vote, which would move the process toward the end of the government shutdown.

Make no mistake: Democrats lost. President Trump won. The Republicans won.

In Houston, I remember those from Hurricane Katrina were flooding into Houston, no pun intended, had to be devastating for all those people to lose their homes.
They were given spending cards. Unfortunately there were some that used them at Strip Clubs, they later found out.

With groceries still high, as I have mentioned, restaurants are at that same point, having to raise prices, credit to them for holding out this long...Sadly, for us retired folks we can't afford to eat out as much so it hurts the restaurants too, less customers. On our fixed income we can only help those restaurants that we can afford, the ones that still has reasonable pricing.

Hopefully we will get one more Christmas before everything goes to :poop: <--- That is not a brown Christmas Tree, hahaha
