Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

There is secretive info that in Q4 5xPRO cams will receive another AI function called Smart Object Detection.

For now We don't know what this will be, but I hope this will be AcuPick / Video Meta Data replacement when run new Xinghan Vision Models with new better IVS with much better accuracy (less false positives) in comparison to AcuPick + mini VMD in actual cams. Plus support for many new objects (animal types is a start, backpack and packages is my hint, I saw Dahua internal presentations even with gun detection in WizSeek).

Yeah. Whoever works at Dahua should perhaps google animals in the main parts of the world and teach AI those instead of taking pictures from a safari manual. I think Cat, Dog, Fox, Coyote / Wolf, would be far more liekly encounters than Giraffe, lion etc. Unles of course you live in a zoo or deepest Africa, in which case knowng there's a lion waiting in your office might be a useful feature provided you have alerts enabled!



As for the cameras, struggling to work out the difference between the 5 and 7 series. From the low light picture in post #218, if the 5 series is the CNN AI model, it looks a bit as if you want a quality low light pitcure you're forced onto the 7 series nevermind any changes to the actual AI. TRyign to work out if 5 has the same low light wizcolor or is CNN.

Here is a size comparison of the PRO cam and a pic of how bright the LEDs are.
We have been testing many different FW versions for both cameras is the reason for the delays.
The first set of testing is in a mostly dark area.

You can see with the new cams they added the 12v output pigtail.

Overall I can say both of these 5x59-PRO cams are going to be very nice.
I like that the IR is more uniformed than the 54IR and the 2 way talk is nice with the option of full color at night.

for now, new 7 PRO series is not released and we don't know spec sheet...

in post #218 you have comparison of old (5442-s3 aka 54IR) and new (5459-PRO aka 54PRO) 5 series...

We don't know what performance will be in new 7 series...

ps. old 5 series and 7 series had different aperture (F1.6/F1.8 vs F1.2) plus little better video processing - and created this way difference wasn't big. Main features of old 7 series were ANPR /parking management/PPE detections..
now with full open aperture on 5 series (F1.0/F1.2) doing new 7 series using the same 1/1.8" sensors don't have any sense - Dahua can't create a extra value here for 2x price difference..

For me they should take new released in 2024 1/1.2" image sensor from OmniVision, which supports both white and IR and do only 8Mpx line of 7 series with various varifocals (ZE and Z4E minimum).
Latest Ubiquiti G6 PRO bullet showed that this is possible (put 1/1.2" and varifocal in small bullet chassis).
Also HIK is using this sensor in new ultra PTZs...

this way we could have 8mpx cam with super night performance using 1/1.2" sensor and AI-ISP / WizColor video processing.
comparable to performance 4Mpx on 1/1.8" (the same pixel pitch)..

and without all problems we had with Color4K (varifocal lens with P-Iris, which can be closed in day to have ideal DOF plus modern SOC inside with new video processing)...

best in class on the market...

54IR takes 3.5-4.3W minimum and up to 9.8W max (with 4 strong IR diodes).. turrets had smaller max, due only 2 LEDs..
54PRO is taking minimum 4.1W for turrets and 5.3W (??? why ???) for bullets
Very small difference for much more advanced processing in minimal config.

Big difference is for max power usage (6.7 to 9.8W vs 21W) - where we have double set of 4 strong white/IR diodes - white diodes takes much more power (full white spectrum vs narrow band IR)..
Plus extra speakers (sirens), glass heating and lot of more AI processing (SOC inside is minimum 2x more power-full and have AI-ISP video processing)...
All 54PRO models have capped max at level 21W (12V) and 24W (POE) - which looks like POE+ power cap.

ps. POE power usage results are always higher due power loss in POE power conversions on CAT5 cable..

I'm guessing the new cameras are going to require some very expensive upgrades to users poe setups in addition to the cost of the new cameras plus implications for energy consumption bills. 6 cameras is going to be around 200 watts 24/7 inlcuding 50w for the BI PC, give or take a few watts for the fact you're not using the siren or lights all the time. However, from the poe perspective, you're going to need that budget to cope with peak demand or risk damaging the switch or cameras.

The same situation we have now with WIFI access points..

Up to WIFI6 old smaller APs fitted in POE power ratings (12W), bigger into POE+ (24W)..

Now with WIFI7 and one extra frequency (6GHz) all APs doubled max power usage levels.
So smaller/medium WIFI 7 APs are fitting in POE+ power settings (24W), bigger / top of the line models into POE++ (40-50W)..

But when I check power usage of all new WIFI7 APs - average is usually half of max power.

the same with those cams - the average will be 2-4W more due more powerfull SOC & AI processing (YES - AI eats a lots of power, much more than classic CPU/software)..

but max for short periods of time due full white LEDs with strong range and all bells & whistles (siren, heater etc) is much more higher..

You don't need 24W * cam count for 24/7 on the switch for POE power budget. More like 6 - 8 -10W (depending if you use IR at night) * cam count...

But you need a 50-100W power spare on switch for situations like a few cams will activate full white lights at night when they will detect someone who is walking around a house.

ps. this can be bigger problems for POE NVRs - which have usually limit of 130W per 16 ports..... They support POE+ (24W per port), but max average when all ports are used is 8W.

Enabling WDR increases power usage about 0.5-1W..
Power cycle jumps to 8W..

Data reported by POE switch...

With white LEDs enabled in manual mode at 100% it takes 9-10W.. the same with fully activated IRs in BW mode...
Yes, it's turret.. Bullet with stronger LEDs can probably take more..

But not 24W...

So it looks like max power usage data in Dahua spec sheet are very exaggerated.

Interesting new 5x59-IL series have in spec sheet max power usage at 16W on all models..
Only 5x59-PRO have 24W..

Hardware vise they are identical (the same SOC, the same LEDs, the same firmware, only different aperture and lack of WizColor processing)..
So probably this 24W max is mistake done by someone in Dahua.. Especially for smaller turrets...

I kinda wonder if that 24w is with the lens heater engaged? I thought a saw a spec on that?

yes, new 5x59-PRO have heating in bullet models, 5x59-IL haven't..
but power usage for heating is 3.6W..
1.6W of basic power usage difference can be AI-ISP / WizColor processing (-IL don't have this) + different sensor power usage..

so there is missing 4W for something else (max 16.1 vs 24.2W difference in identical bullet cams)..
