Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Dahua released new 5x59-PRO camera lineup with F1.0/F1.2 apertures and WizColor technology:

But also released new 5x59-IL Smart Dual Light cams with F1.6/F1.8 apertures and without WizColor technology:

Both lines looks almost identical (Smart Dual Light have extra Z4E models with telephoto both have extra Z4E models), both are using the same new firmware line: DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Fourier_MultiLang_PN_Stream4_V3.146.0000000.1.R.250731

Andy (@EMPIRETECANDY) do you have any extra information about differences or purpose of two extra 5-series lines?

It looks like 5x59-IL Smart Dual Light cams lineup have 4 / 5 / 8 Mpx models but 5x59-PRO WizColor cams lineup have 4 / 6 / 8 Mpx models..

All models will have 1/1.8" sensor!
Except 5 Mpx Smart Dual Light 5559-IL model, which will be 1/2.7" (Dahua why????)

There are differences in WDR specification (120/130/140 db) between lines, so my theory is that 5x59-IL Smart Dual Light cams are using OmniVision sensors used before in 5x42 WizSense-S and -X cams... And 5x59-IL Smart Dual Light line is replacement for 5x42 WizSense-S line...

5x59-PRO WizColor are using SmartSens sensor, used in TIOC-PRO and HIK Vision ColorVu cams.. and this is continuation of old 5x49 Full Color line with WizColor technology...

So there will be different video noise characteristics between those lines!

but this is only my theory. Andy please confirm/deny that

More Differences:

There is HUGE difference between Max Aperture:

• 5x59-PRO WizColor are using F1.0 (for fixed lens), F1.2 (for ZE/ZHE varifocal) and F1.6 (for telephoto varifocal Z4E)...
• 5x59-IL Smart Dual Light area using F1.6 (for fixed and Z4E telephoto) and F1.8 (for normal varifocal ZE/ZHE)..

WizColor 5x59-PRO (first one) models are more light sensitive:


WizColor 5x59-PRO turrets have 2x more multi-core lights, 10 meters longer distances:


In bullets there are always 4 multi-core lights, but some chassis models (like Z4E) have longer distances..

FOV for Lenses are almost identical - there are very small differences 1 degree FOV differences between 5x59-PRO WizColor and 5x59-IL Smart Dual Light lines, probably due different aperture or different sensors manufacturers..

WizColor models have speaker and dual mic.. 5x59-IL Smart Dual Light models only mic..

Smart Dual Light have extra telephoto varifocal Z4E-IL model, which is not available for WizColor lineup...



there are differences for power consumption, WizColor cam are using 1W more for minimal power usage and 2-3W more for max config...

- there is new automatic AI Rule Assist for IVS detections, which can automatically draw rules based on scene...

Bit sad that they start using the multi core LEDs again. But the heat generated by white led and power over ethernet will always be a limitation. You can buy tiny 1000lumen torchlights, but they get hot. really hot.

why sad? if you don't need white light, you simply use IR part.. white light is very configurable in those cams (like in TIOC and TIOC-PROs)...

How do you compare the new 8-32mm to the Z4E? I still need a bullet camera.

Please remember no one (even Andy) didn't have in hands any cam from the second Dual Light 5x59-IL line (where is Z4E model)...

We known only specification..

Andy had 5459-PRO WizColor sample in hands.. He should give us some more info now, after official release..

PS. Most forum users will have a very hard time distinguishing those lines.

What's the difference between the WizColor 5459-PRO and the Smart Dual Light 5459-IL?

Theoretically, the difference is similar to the difference between the old WizSense-S 5442-S3 and the Full Color 5449...

But it will be hard.. Dahua used here the same model numbers (5459, 5859) for both lines... Lines, which will work differently and will have different light capabilities...

If will be even harder because Dahua didn't obsolete old WizColor-S (5442-S3) and Full Color (5449, 5849) cams...

Will likely be available concurrently for the foreseeable future.

While "Min illumination" seems to be a bit of a loosy-goosy metric, if "measured" the same way, I'm surprised that F/1.8 -> F/1.2 (and F/1.6->F/1.0) didn't provide more of in improvement (0.007->0.006) as that is more than a full-stop of light to the sensor ... but as you point out, maybe different sensors.

Would be a bummer if they "handicapped" the better sensor with a less bright lens.

Two more differences:

- varifocal WizColor 5x59-PRO will have P-Iris.
P-Iris is ability to close aperture in good light condition for better Depth of Field - to cancel limited DoF for open F1.2 aperture...

In Smart Dual Light 5x59-IL line only telephoto Z4E model will have this feature (P-iris)...

Close Focus Distance is very low for varifocal models with P-Iris (16 cm



- Fixed lenses WizColor 5x59-PRO will have little longer Close Focus Distance than Smart Dual Light 5x59-IL (due much more open F1.0 aperture). Difference will be bigger for 3.6mm lenses (3.5m vs 2m)..

FoV for fixed 2.8mm lens is almost identical. But for 3.6mm lens if very different (95 vs 89 degrees horizontal)...

Yes, SmartSens sensors (taken from TIOC-PRO / HIK ColorVu) used in WizColor 5x59-PRO series are cheaper and more noisy ones..

OmniVision ones (from 5442) used in Smart Dual Light 5x59-IL are much more sensitive and noise is very different from them...

if I will have any camera from both lines in my hands, I can test noise level / video / movement quality and describe here..

One more interesting information - firmware size:

TIOC-PRO 3449-PRO: 210MB,
WizSense-S 5442-S3: 332MB (170 + 164 for firmware.bin),
new 5459 (-PRO & -IL): 850MB (120 + 671 730 for firmware.bin),
WizSense-X 7442-X: 1025MB (155 + 870 for firmware.bin),

Base compressed firmware with V5 white/blue web interface is around 120-170MB.. everything extra are data for AI algorithms (sometimes inside main file, sometimes as external firmware.bin file)..

Ai data for new 5459-PRO/-IL is 5x larger than for old Wizsense-S 5442-S3 cams.
And only 15% smaller that for Ultra line WizSense-X 7442-X cams...

AI function list for new cams is the same as for old 5442-S3 with latest firmwares - so this AI file size difference is only for more quality AI models (no new features)...

AI data size is always proportional to SOC performance.. Better/higher line SOC have capability to run bigger and mode detailed AI models..

So this looks like SOC from Ultra 7-series line now is used in new Pro 5-series line cams..

Question what will bring new Ultra 7-series 7x52 line in future?

Earlier this summer was going to go with five 5442 S3's (varifocal turret) but held off ... thinking will go all 5 with this new camera if testing shows superior.

Awaiting the comparison!!!!!!!

At this moment we know that WizMind-S 5442-S3 cams will NOT receive any new features in firmware (it's 2.5 years from release date).. And some features don't work very well due limited SOC power (lots of false positives in IVS/AcuPick/VideoMetaData modes)...

AcuPick (first 1.0, then 2.0 year after), animal support, large distance / large AI models plus IVS learning database - there were a lot of new features added in life cycle of 5442-S3 (much more that for older 5442-S1/S2)..

I hope those will be much more finished / higher quality for new 5x59 -PRO & -IL cams...

Here is a size comparison of the PRO cam and a pic of how bright the LEDs are.
We have been testing many different FW versions for both cameras is the reason for the delays.
The first set of testing is in a mostly dark area.

You can see with the new cams they added the 12v output pigtail.

Overall I can say both of these 5x59-PRO cams are going to be very nice.
I like that the IR is more uniformed than the 54IR and the 2 way talk is nice with the option of full color at night.

Would love to see a side-by-side comparison of the all three camera at night, NO illumination and full color (i.e. not IR), using similar params.

I.e. lets see what the difference is in lens/sensors.
