Two of my barns did not have water or gas. I rented a trencher and put in a water line, gas line and two 1" runs of conduit. I am glad I did. It is amazing how much other "Stuff" you can think of down the road. I am glad I went 1".
Also, buy a bucket of pull string. Way quicker and easier than a fish tape. If you need something else pulled, tie it to the pull string (Then tie another string to whatever you are pulling.)
