I followed some tutorial to get the switch back to factory defaults. I thinks its just passing data like a layer 2 dumb switch without IP addressing. Which may not be what the OP is shooting for. But is fine for my needs.

Correct, if it's been reset back to defaults AND the VLAN file has been wiped out, then yes it should act just like any ol' dumb switch.
