Overwrite Night Owl NVR firmware?

Hello all.

I have a Night Owl NVR system (NVR10-882). I am not satisfied with the operating system Night Owl provides, and their customer support is less than stellar. Is there a way to overwrite their OS and load an open source firmware? If so, how do I go about doing that and what could be the possible issues?
