firmware 5.4.0 for R6 anyone tried?

Downgrade and wait for the next version

Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum and i really wish someone can help with the problem i seem to have after upgrading my DS-2CD2342WD-I camera's from firmware 5.3.8. to this latest version 5.4.0.
I cannot set my camera's to anything higher than 1920x1080P. This morning while i was still on 5.3.8. i had normal 4MP resolution. It seems to have downgraded my resolution to 2MP instead of 4MP.

I added a screenshot from 1 of my cams. 1920x1080P is the highest i can choose from the dropdown menu. Sorry it's in Dutch.

Anyone who can shed some light in this matter? I seem to be stuck with 2MP camera's now ;-((

Kroegtijgertje, i changed the capture to below setting and now i can change my resolution all the way up to 2688x1520. So this is the correct setting.

Hi guys, i'm back again with an issue with the 5.4.0. firmware. My picture quality during nightime (no IR) has changed dramatically (and i mean that in the worst possible negative way) since the upgrade to 5.4.0. With 5.3.8. i had considerable better night video than now. So i think i wish to go back to 5.3.8.

Did anyone do this downgrade already?

I use H264+ and quality with 5.4.0 on R6 is much worse then with 5.3.8 .. I want downgrade too. On board is thread firmware downgrade for R0 series, but it does notr work on R6.

I read from many users that they are happy with 5.4.0 firmware on their R6 model. How can it be that i am experiencing this degradation of picture quality during low light conditions? Are you guys using different settings? Can anyone (for instance Kroegtijgertje) confirm which settings to use? I am really stuck looking for clues here.

Also, after a bit more testing we have found v5.4.0 to probably be the best firmware for the R6 4MP Cameras as long as you don't need H.264+.

I am curious as to what made you change your opinion. First i read that you're experiencing more noice and artifacts in 5.4.0. than with 5.3.8, but now you probably changed settings to make it better picture quality. What changes did you do?

My settings are:

Resolution: 2688x1520 (main stream)
Bitrate type: constant
Video quality: highest
frame rate: 20 fps
Max bitrate: 16384
Video encoding: H.264 (only option)
H.264+: OFF
Profile: Main Profile (only option)
I Frame Interval: 20
Smoothing: 20


Brightness: 50
Contrast: 40
Saturation: 50
Sharpness: 50

Day/Night Switch: Auto
Sensitivity: 6
Smart Suplement Light: On (Smart IR)
Mode: Auto

Shutterspeed: 1/30
Gain: 70 (this is very personal based on available light)
White Balance: Natural

Digital Noise Reduction: Expert
Space DNR Level: 15
Time DNR Level: 30

BLC Area: OFF
WDR: OFF

Thanks @Kroegtijgertje, i tried all your settings but still my picture quality is extremely bad. I will adress this issue also to Hikvision, since my cams are only 4 days old and now already a big disappointment. The first two days i was still at 5.3.8. firmware and i had good quality even in low light condition. But now the cams are virtually useless at night.

I uploaded some footage with different settings to youtube. Comments? The settings that i changed are mostly exposure (25 = 1/25, 50 = 1/50) and DNR (normal and expert mode). I was not able yet to see how it effects moving objects.

Comments anyone?

I noticed my line crossing is working when the resolution is set to 1080P, and not working in full 4MP with 5.4.0 firmware...
 
Dear all,

I noticed a lot of people whom are positive about the 5.4 update, but also some people are not.
The problem I'm currently facing is that my motion detection pictures are no longer emailed from and to my GMail account.

Does anyone faced the same problems? Or maybe even someone has the solution?
