Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

So just for laughs; I sort of installed my prize Color4K-T with a ziptie next to the T54PRO-AS (and both above T54IR-ZE-S3). Location is on our driveway, the view includes some of the street where there's some light from streetlights and lights from neighbours (we don't have any exterior lights...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Thank all of you for your testing and sharing experiences. Today I installed my lottery IPC-T54PRO-AS. The visible light and speaker are nice, but I don't think I'm really going to use them. (I don't like to have visible lights on during the night; even less lights that turn on and off...

REMINDER for those that Observe DST [November 3, 2025]

We had it last weekend and the NVR and all camera's changed time perfectly. It does mess up the timeline though.

    EmpireTech 2025 Autumn Sales

Look what the figurative cat dragged in! Thanks @EMPIRETECANDY ! :D I think the IPC-T54PRO-AS will replace a IPC-T54IR-ZE S3 at our driveway. Looking forward to explore the new possibilities with this camera (visible light; speaker) Don't know where to place the IPC-Color4K-T though.

    Current shipping methods to EU

Well, basically what you just said. Andy offers 2 shipping methods with one being more expensive (upfront), so would like to know what the actual differences between the two are so us EU buyers can make an informed decision what shipping method to use. FedEX/UPS is the proven fast way (previous...

    Current shipping methods to EU

I think we're talking past each other. I'm not talking about the link between shipping companies (DHL/FedEx/PostNL) and local customs, I'm talking about the actual shipping methods since Andy specifically mentions 2 different ways. The fast way (which he mentions may result in signifcant customs...

    Current shipping methods to EU

Yes. I don't have recent examples, but I have one FedEx invoice from 2023 and it was €3,74 TAX and €5 advance payment commission for a total extra cost of €8,74. I have never experienced it like that. Granted, it was always a single item (1 camera) but every single time my item arrived in less...

    Current shipping methods to EU

If I understand correctly; @EMPIRETECANDY has 2 shipping methods to the EU. A regular "fast' way and a slower "tax free" way. I usually received the packages with FedEx and that must have been the 'fast' way since shipping time was mostly less than a week. As for extra import costs; if and when...

    EmpireTech 2025 Autumn Sales

Hopefully shipping will go right this time. Previous one returned by Dutch customs probably still hasn't arrived back at you. And no rush of course, you take all the time. I'm very happy anyway for this opportunity to play with some new camera's! :headbang: Your lottery is always good fun!

    Dahua Turret as bird camera

Oh I don't need color at night. I have forced the camera to color during the day but I took some quite extreme settings to have a usefull image. And it never changed back to color after the night. Schedule profile is a possibility but I try to avoid that since I requires changing the times quite...

    Dahua Turret as bird camera

This bird gets in basically every day now. Often multiple times a day. Last night she slept in there for the first time. Hopefully we'll get lucky next spring! Small problem though; I need to get in more light. I'm think about adding a 'skylight' (cut a rectangle from the roof and place an...

I gave in... I'm sure @EMPIRETECANDY and I will find a solution for the returned prize from the previous lottery. I just couldn't resist taking part with this one. :blankstare:

    Dahua Turret as bird camera

An update. This summer (were have you gone...) I build another box, don't have a picture now, but similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Birdkiss-Birdhouse-Hatching-Outdoors-Black/dp/B0CTF1DZBB/ The last couple of weeks it gets visited by a Great Tit. Unfortunately, the image quality is poor...

    Looking for POE nest cam

What camera/image settings do you use? My nest box has been visited by a great tit the last couple of weeks but the camera's footage isn't great. Seems it might not have enough light; but your box is under an eave (probably less light than mine) and seems to have a great (bright) picture.

    EmpireTech 2025 Autumn Sales

Oh nice, even some of the new camera's. :headbang: But I don't know if it's wise for me to participate this time since my prize from the previous lottery never made it through Dutch customs and is now 3 weeks into it's journey back to you...

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

Unfortunately Protect works very poorly with other (non-Ubiquiti) camera's. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know you can connect ONVIF camera's so Protect can record them 24/7, but nothing else. No camera detections getting through, I believe the NVR's don't do any sort of IVS/detection...

Experience with Unifi Protect and UNVR Pro

It does show how overpriced the Viewport is; here in the EU that thing is priced exactly the same as the NVR Instant (€214,80), but the NVR adds Protect, 3.5" HDD support and a 6-port POE-switch. But their offerings sort of overlap: €214,80 NVR Instant: 15xHD / 8x2K / 6x4K with 3.5" HDD. Runs...

    2025 New Arrivals From EmpireTech

That's unfortunate, I thought the 180 camera's were quite popular and an IR version would be very welcome. Now you've piqued my interest.

    EmpireTech 10th Anniversary (Summer+Prime Day)Sales

PostNL is really testing my patience; it's at the local Dutch customs for 2 weeks already. If that takes more than 30 days, I was told to contact the seller... With UPS, total shipping time is just a matter of days.

IR Hot Spotting Low Tech Fix

Lol, gave it a try and some of my camera's and it actually works great. Much more equal spread of light. EDIT: well; less hot spot, maybe not more "spread".

    EmpireTech 10th Anniversary (Summer+Prime Day)Sales

Nice, same here. But the T180 will be a perfect replacement for a IPC-T54IR-ZE S3 with it's wider view. Will be interesting with it's visible LED instead of IR and no animal trigger. But love to find out what that camera's going to be like :headbang: Thanks Andy for another great lottery! You...

    UNIFI—The Best Option...?

Combine the hardware from Dahua with the UI from Ubiquiti. :headbang: First signs of Ubiquiti opening their ecosystem for other camera's was hopefull because that would do just that; Dahua camera's with a Ubiquiti NVR (and thus their UI). But seems like Ubiquiti isn't going to implement it like...

    2025 New Arrivals From EmpireTech

As others are saying; unfortunately not working; just one of the many "quirks" of the Dahua ecosystem. If it would work there wouldn't be a problem; but the fact this toggle is present but not working if very annoying. Dahua shouldn't put it there if it's not working as it should. This results...

    2025 New Arrivals From EmpireTech

Yes, that's why I was so happy when Andy came with the new firmware for the S3 camera's. But I'm also considering building an Unraid NAS/server (replacing an old Qnap NAS) and think about running Frigate. Less dependance on detection capabilities of Dahua camera's.
