Football field security -- camera layout/design

Great point about the potential need to cover parking lot areas for vandalism, etc . I was focused on what the fans/spectators might do and didn't even consider the need to cover what unrelated third parties might be up to.

Well I saw the current system today. Google searches pull up a bunch of crap in Russian. Looks to be an old system anyways.

Power cycled but comes back up with just this light on. Nothing on the monitor.

I talked to the commissioner of Football today, he said send the plan/ideas up to the Athletic department.

To begin answering some of the questions...

What are the functional needs?
Biggest thing for ME is general security, plus ability to provide video evidence in several "he said / she said" issues that have cropped up with those "sports parents" over the years. It seems like every year, it's something new, something stupid. This year a dad filed a police report accusing two coaches of "manhandling" a 12 year old to break up an altercation that was getting out of hand between two teams scrimmaging. In past years parents have stormed the field because of XYZ. Always the parents of the problem kids...but to build in some protection against baseless accusations

Where are the potential issues?
Mostly on the field and sidelines. There is also a baseball field as seen. It looks like there is some Cat5 or Cat5e running from the current NVR to the snack stand shed. It looks like there were a couple cameras there but they were ripped down.

What are the priorities?
Be able to provide identifiable video evidence for any vandalism or he-said-she said type of scenarios

Vandalism at night?
Has happened

Crime at night?
Has happened

Issues during the day?
Not typically

Will someone be manning the cameras during events (PTZ could be used in this case)?
It hasn't been brought up, although there have certainly been scenarios where fans have been tossed during games for running their mouths.

As much as I love DIY projects and goals, this really sounds more like a commercial project rather slapping a driveway camera at home and figuring out Blue Iris afterwards.
Cat6 cables will have to be ran. I assume, underground through conduits. Possibly even fiber optic cabling if no remote cabinet/POE switch within 320' of a data cable run.
How to mount cameras on the poles, and how high? 40' scissor lift needed?
Who will support & maintain these cameras after installation?
The old camera system is an analog with BNC connectors to the NVR. I don't bother with analog systems but eh... maybe there are pro's / con's to them. Most likely, you will swap to IP cameras so yes. new data cabling & POE switch (which means getting school IT folks involved) may be necessary.

We do have this one customer that went full into Verkada security & IP camera systems. They have a 4 way dome camera (over $4,000 for this sucker) but is 500' distance. The customer wants to try out these supposedly new network data cable he saw on the internet that can go far father than the 320' limit using data communication & POE vdc. I said good luck, blessed his theory, and moved on.
You would need POE extenders for the 320'+ runs. I personally nor commercially have not used POE power extenders to know their pros/cons.
