Sensors used in Dahua cams

Did I waste my money buying the new model announced in summer 2025 ds-2cd2087g3
Couldn't find any detailed reviews, but wanted to take a risk, cause there's no much similar models, hfw3849 was released a few years ago and has a smaller sensor

If it is the camera I think it is, I say no. It is a good 4K camera. I have 6 of them. Four of them are 4mm, one 2.8mm at the front door, and a 6mm watching the street.

Is there any way to get sensor model? I guess I need to disassemble, but that will hurt ip67, I'm right?

Hmm, I think you're thinking about different model, this one only has 2.8 and 4mm

@Parley 's cameras are G2, I have those too, yours are the newer model G3


By the way, the resemblance here is uncanny, or should I say un-candy

I know G2's have bigger sensor, 1/1.2, I wonder why they downgraded to 1/1.8, and hasn't the picture gotten worse...
Lmao, you're right, this pic transfered from youtube, where it was auto generated. I saw m with different color a couple times

On another forum, users have said that the 8MP G3 cameras still work well at night despite the smaller 1/1.8" sensor... but if night performance is the highest priority, it's probably better to go with the 4MP G3 cameras that also have a 1/1.8" sensor.

Keep in mind that the G2 ColorVu cameras did not support IR... the new G3 cameras are hybrid... they have IR so there are more options depending on how much ambient light is available...
