I've been using Dahua SD49225T-HN cameras for ages, a PTZ with 20x optical zoom. They're great though hard to find these days but I still have 5 of them in use at various places, all going strong.
But I'm trying to set up a camera for our local first responders at an ocean bar crossing that sees a lot of boating accidents. The problem is the nearest place to mount the camera is about 1.5 miles from the place we need to watch.
Currently we get this picture with one of those Dahuas:
That video unfortunately has a friend moving the camera angle without having any idea of what he's doing, but it gives an idea of the view.
Here's another one with less spazzy movement:
I don't imagine anyone has some idea for something high resolution that we could leave aimed at this bar crossing and zoom in on footage later for forensics? I'm thinking a true 4k camera with heavy optical zoom. Doesn't need to be PTZ but wouldn't be a dealbreaker unless that makes it crazy expensive. Weather proof is good but if all else fails we could make an enclosure for it.
