I recently purchased two refurbished units from Amcrest through Amazon (sold/shipped directly by Amcrest). Neither unit includes the plug for this hole. When I contacted their support, they replied that “I spoke with our refurbishment team. They state that no plug fits into the hole/side exit at the base of the camera.”

This is BS, right? Any alternative solution to plug that hole and avoid more water getting in? Or is the best solution to have it point down, which is aesthetically less than ideal?

iirc there is silicone or rubber plug for it .. easy enough to lose that bit.

Pointing it down is a good idea, silicone caulk is also an option

I just checked the 5 other cameras I have that are also IP5M-T1277EW-AI, but purchased new. None of those have the plug either, so I guess this model never came with the plug. Pretty annoying.
