Looking to Replace my PTZ camera with a newer model

Ok, I am closing in on the fine tuning. Just a tad more to go. I was in the middle of some light adjusting and a neighbor went by doing a slow trot. I did not realize that I had the camera light off at this time. Also, that is the reason that you can see all the holes in the stop sign post. With the camera light on the middle holes go away. Halloween tonight, so I should have a lot of customers for the camera. Here is a video from last night. I am glad I bought this PTZ. It is much better than the one it replaced.

HLC (or WDR, if the HLC level isn't adjustable- like on my PTZ) will help control the over exposure on the pole- which is why the holes can't be seen with the lights on. It also helps makes vehicle number plates legible when they are totally overexposed and appear as a white blob at night.

I have HLC on. I have had WDR on too. I will take a look at my settings as things keep going on and off when I try something.

With my Colorvu's I was using HLC, which then had an adjustable level for it. On my G2 Colorvu's the HLC adjustment does have a distinct step in the operation and isn't linear over the scale. Once you reach that step (around 40% IIRC) there's a big difference for number plates and the like.

The PTZ I've got only has a selection for HLC ON or OFF, and no adjustment scale pops up when it's ON. So HLC on it doesn't work well at all, and doesn't help with number plates. I've had to use WDR instead. If the PTZ tracks a vehicle up to the end of my road at night, and focuses in the low light, I can get the number plates. It's impressive when it's working properly.

Getting the tracking set to work all the time is the issue. Sometimes it will lock onto a stopped vehicle and not track the person who has gotten out and is walking into the yard. It would be good it there was a priority system to set people as a higher priority over vehicles if they're both in the same frame.
