Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

When I replaced an S2 5442 with an S3, I thought there was a definite improvement in how it performed with IR lighting. I use external IR, so this does not reflect any differences in the built-in IR.

That is good to know, others have mentioned the upgrade being enough that they replaced other older 5442's. Mine I believe are the earlier models. I shall need to invest in some good external IR's, or at least one initially.

Are the cameras able to human/vehicle detect without an NVR? I got a few, and I want to test to enable their human/vehicle detection, and get the events to BlueIris, instead of (as I am doing it now) to get the motion detect event, and then BlueIris determines via CodeProject. The problem is that when I enable Motion Detection via the camera's interface, I cannot enable human/vehicle detection - it says operation failed. I am on latest firmware as far as I know. I want to test this to see how good detection is as currently my CPU is getting to 100% often as it is an i7 4790. I've offloaded much of the stuff to the GPU, however the CPU is still not handling it well.

Yes, most of us with Dahua cams that have AI built-in use that to trigger the cams and do not use Code Project.

GETTING CAMERA TRIGGERS INTO BI

Go into the camera GUI and set up smart plan with IVS, then go to the IVS screen and draw IVS rules (tripwire or intrusion box) and then select the AI you want it to trigger on (human or vehicle).

Make sure MD and SMD are turned OFF in the camera.

Then in BI, there are a few places you need to set this up in BI (assuming you already set up the IVS rules in the camera GUI):

In Camera configure setting check the box "Get ONVIF triggers".

Hit Find/Inspect on the camera setting to pull the coding for the triggers.

Go into Motion Setting and select the "Cameras digital input" box OR "ONVIF/CAMERA EVENTS" based on which BI version you have. Turn off BI Motion Detection if you don't want to use it:

On the Alerts tab uncheck the Motions Zones tab (those are alerting you to any BI motion in those areas in Zones A thru H) and select ONVIF and External check boxes.

On the "On alert..." actions, select how you want to be alerted (email, push, SMS, etc.)

Thanks for the detailed reply. When I go to the camera, and check IVS/Face detection, it just gives me the icon of a face or a human - where do I place this? It asks me to download webplugin.exe - is that how it works, should I dl and install this? Other than that, what I see in the interface is mostly picture tuning settings, and the AI tab where I can just turn on/off Acupick, and then there's IVS, while face detection, heatmap, people counting are grayed out and unclickable.

Using BI you want Acupick turned off and then reboot the camera.

Then it will give you access to the IVS rules.

You do not want face detection, heat map, etc. Simply human or vehicle check boxes.

I still cannot find these rules.. maybe I should watch some tutorials. I am on latest BI version, and I can't find it there. I also cannot find it in SmartPSS-Lite and in the webcam interface itself - when I go to IVS it just gives me a human shape, that is with adjustable size.

Seem to recall someone else mentioned this, but I turned on Ai SSA for a laugh yesterday, only for 5 minutes! then disabled it. Since then almost every time a vehicle/person enters the scene, the image (exposure) darkens and general quality is reduced. Shortly after, sometimes immediately, the scene reverts to normal.

I did try restarting the camera just in case but there seems to be residual fallout from toggling Ai SSA on and off again.

That was me. I ran it for 8 hours overnight. Made for a bright colorful picture, until movement, then it was like watching a ghost movie.
But no residual effects…?

I have an interesting observation; I have my 54PRO in color mode 24/7. As I've said previously; I probably don't have enough light for that so part of the image is to dark, other area's is perfectly usable.
But I have a 54S3 in IR for the dark area's.

But now; the 54PRO during the night triggers on my neighbours van that is parked next door. Constantly. Never experienced that with any of my camera's.
I think I might have to turn sensitivity down (have it on 10, maybe put it on 5 and see what - doesn't - happen) or redraw the tripwire lines to not include the area where the van is parked...

I've seen far more false alerts from the ZE and the Z4 models than I was used to with the 5442

The fixed AS version I finally got calmed down by backing off sensitivity to 7, turning off the new great Large Scale model AI, and running the 10/28 FW

Last night I turned down sensitivity to 7. Still triggered several times on the van, and several times on our own empty driveway. Can't see what the camera's 'sees' (car, animal or?).
So now I've turned of "Large-Scale AI Models" and sensitivity back to 10 and now I'll wait what happens this coming night.

Using color mode during the night with not enough visible light (so pretty dark areas in view) probably doesn't help I think?

Mine recognizes the mailbox as a person.

I tripped into a different item where the PRO is inferior to the 5442, that the ethernet link is less robust (disclaimer: I have only a sample of one unit). I replaced a 5442 with the PRO, on the end of a 200' cable run and an amazon/ebay type of POE splitter. This setup has been running the 5442, and the 4231 before it, with no glitches ever. The PRO didn't work, powering up but no data communication. For problem isolation, I first placed one of Andy's PFT1300 PoE Extenders at the end of the 200' foot cable, and before the POE splitter. This worked. The camera also worked taking the POE Splitter out of the loop, a no-go for me because of external POE illuminators. I finally found a solution using a Trendnet POE splitter, which caused great headaches with the plastic junction box I use because the Trendnet splitter is larger and doesn't have pigtails for its network and power outputs. Between more connecting cables and the much larger size of the PRO's camera pigtail, getting it all stuffed into the junction box was a time consuming chore. I'd post a picture except it would probably be judged as obscenity. This the the type of POE splitter I was using, which works fine with other 5442s on the end of even longer wires:

Conclusion: When using a long cable to the camera and/or a POE splitter, you may encounter problems with the PRO that don't exist with a 5442.

I'm still toying with the idea of testing a T58PRO for the main camera in the front of the house where there's plenty of light at night. T54PRO is nice and bright in color. Two 75 watt bulbs on stoop and streetlight not far.

I know we have all the issues described here, got it. :)

My main use case is having the entire front of the house and full street up on the 4K TV. While I take a quick peak at the IVS trip snapshots daily, it's mostly just to see deliveries, there's never actually been a perp for 8+ years, thankfully!

I have the Apple TV 4K Streamie app up on my office 4K TV sometimes all day. The T54PRO looks great, but I'm just soooo curious what the T58PRO would look like.

There's been hundreds of posts about the T54, anyone test a T58? I'm assuming the day time might be fine and nighttime will be much worse I know, but before I hit the order button ($250 USD) would love to hear if anyone has actually installed a T58PRO varifocal turret. Anyone?

And again ... I know the results of the T54PRO testing ... I see every post! and it must be varifocal ...

I also have the 2nd T54PRO in the front so that's a backup, from a different angle not as focused exactly on the front stoop and not as much light.

All five T54PRO's have been perfect, not one single missed IVS trip, and ZERO false alarms, no shadows, no squirrels, no birds, no cats ... perfect!

And again I'm almost never looking at snapshot video, with the 4K TV being the usual use case just to keep track of the neighborhood. :)
