A good bet. I update every 15 minutes and have yet to notice an issue.

Per this ChatGPT answer, the API limits are 1500 calls per day, and 30 calls per minute.

BTW, on the screenshot in the previous post, I've just noted an upcoming "Expiration date" for my API Key (10/28/2025)..
I don't recall a notice of this when signing up. This is ~6 months from when I received the key (4/25/2025).
Anyway, I've set of up a calendar reminder. It will be interesting to learn if I can renew the API Key, or need to generate a new one.

I do it every minute and haven't had any issues. There are 1440 minutes in a day, so (based on what you showed above) doing it every minute should not make it exceed the 1500 limit.

Just a thought - maybe there's a different limit for us 'freeloaders' who are not sharing data from an actual PWS.

I probably should have known everything has a limit but never really paid attention to it. It had been working for a couple of years with the 1 minute updates but that was without a key and of course it stopped working when they started making us have a key. I'm at 1440 per day but I'm using the same API key for both myself and dad so my count is really 2880 a day LOL. Whoopsies....guess I need to create a key for dad.
I was just about to ask if you were the only user of the API key.

Yes, I already have it working. I do have a PWS uploading data though too.
Did you check your WU API key usage chart? Just wondering if ChatGPT is correct about the the 1500/day daily limit?

You were correct! As soon as I hit the 1500 limit the failures began. Again, it was because I was sharing a key between two BI machines and updating every minute on both of them. I've gone back and created a unique API key for each BI machine.
I just created a WU acct, then created a PWS that I named ‘Virtual’, haha. Then I got an API key, plugged it into BIT, hit update and my BIT weather updated for the first time in months.
I wonder if the virtual PWS is even needed? I did that step first so I’m not sure if it will give you an API key without doing that step first or not. If you get an API key just by creating a WU acct, I wonder if that could be skipped? Up and working great either way.

Hi everyone. I am fighting an issue of random freezing of my BI machine. It is running BI in a Windows VM under Proxmox. The issue I am having pre-dates this setup though and I was having an identical issue on a dedicated BI machine running windows. The issue, when it occurs, is that the machine to become totally unresponsive. I cannot even access the Proxmox UI and it requires a hard restart. Although it seems unlikely, I still feel that this freezing is coming from BI somehow. The Blue Iris status logs show a bunch of blank entries for 2-3 hours prior to the crash (time of crash determined by when my camera recordings stop).
I have only just discovered Blue Iris tools. I am wondering if it will help me monitor for these crashes which can be several weeks apart, or a few hours after the last restart.
I got me thinking - if BI causes the machine to totally freeze up, how can BI tools send an alert? My guess is that it would depend on what happens immediately prior to the system freezing which I am yet to determine since the logs don't populate.
Also - if not using the overlays and only using it for monitoring purposes and push notifications - does BI tools affect CPU usage?

I've got a 14900k CPU, but Blue Iris Tools is a really small program and doesn't even register above 0% CPU and around 20MB or RAM in task manager most of the time, even with a watchdog enabled and having it do the write the text values to overlay macros. Occasionally it will spike at like .6% CPU, so it's most likely negligible to the performance of your machine especially when compared to Blue Iris itself
There are multiple watchdog functions, it might be what you are looking for. It shows you can do email, but I haven't tested that. It's easy enough to download Blue Iris Tools and play around with it. If you click on the question marks in the UI, it does a pretty good job of detailing how each watchdog works.
Can anyone chime in on whether or not the Intel graphics version he has( we dont know yet) could be susceptible to the famous freeze/crash/unresponsive scenario of certain drivers?
@Gilera what kind of hardware are you running? how many cams, how many FPS, how much data throughput, etc. what hardware is receiving the video streams, i.e. Hard disk perf.

If it was happening before you went virtual, I'm thinking it could be the intel graphics driver. If you have a dedicated GPU like Nvidia you could install and run BI through that, watch and see of the behavior of the machine changes.
