uboot is your friend here, obtain the zipped firmware folder files and put the update.img and uboot.img files onto a blank USB. Insert into the NVR and turn it on and cross your fingers and toes.
Totally understandable. Thanks for replying. Look I love Dahua, just some decisions they make really frustrate me as an installer. DoLynk is not something the industry in my country would take to due to them having their ways set from previous versions of DMSS. DoLynk is just extra configuration...
Mr DahuaTechnical, can you advise why Dahua have forced the use of accounts in DMSS? The obvious issue is that you are basically agreeing to have your data collected by third parties by entering an email address into the app. This goes for installers on DoLynk and end users on DMSS. I have used...
What is the build date you have currently? You cannot just update to V4 without the correct path. You need to be on the January 2019 firmware on V3 before you can apply the first V4 version. Trust me

Did you do the sequential updates to get it to V8? There is a path of updates needed to do such an update. If it did not work, you might need to fully factory default it in Recovery Mode. That might work but you should push Dahua for support
From the glance I had of it, its not bad. I'd be happy to use it over the v4 AiOT GUI on EI models which I was not impressed with. Still to try web browser usage
I havent updated my app. The DMSS 2.0 update proved it was a data collection excercise. 100% your data is going to China. I can no longer install Dahua's app for end users. Have switched my installs to DW Spectrum
Lads, Dahua releasing an entirely new GUI for NVR's. Doesnt look bad, hopefully its better than the recent "AIoT" menu they brought out on EI models. https://www.dahuasecurity.com/Products/keyTechnologies/1115
