Questin in regards of building a system, an looking back events

bp2008 is right about wireless. Avoid it if you can. I've never used it, but if you google "hikvision smart event search", you'll find some stuff. I found this video which looks to do what you describe:

Sofit access with a living space above.

I'd be afraid of that, too. If it were mine and it was important that I got up there, I'd call a siding guy and try to get someone out to show me how to do it for maybe $100 vs. risk damaging materials and it costing more in the long run.

    Hikvision 2CD2732F-IS Wall Mount Install

Install looks great! I don't know of any go-to places (someone else here might), but I'd start with a search on Amazon for "stainless security screws"

Good source to buy IP items at

He's one guy and managing his inbox here isn't his primary responsibility so waiting and/or politely following up would be the thing to do. If you have no luck or don't have the time to go through him, check out some of the other good vendors that folks like around here. They want/need our...

Hik NVR 4 Channel Monitoring not crisp until full screen

I will try that, thanks a lot for the idea. Only thing that concerns me by doing that is if the "fluent" quality setting on the mobile app pulls from that substream (I have no idea if it does or not), it'll load a lot slower and consume more data on mobile.

Hik NVR 4 Channel Monitoring not crisp until full screen

I'm using a new re-branded Hik NVR (LTN8704-P4) from milkisbad which is running fairly current and standard Hik firmware. I have a monitor connected directly to the NVR showing the 4 channels. The images seem to be pulling from a substream until I click on a camera for full screen, then it...

    Audio Alerts from smoke detectors?

Ah, cool! Sorry for posting that out of date info. In that case, I'm jealous. There are a few spots here where those automatic nightlights would be awesome, too.

    Audio Alerts from smoke detectors?

The nest is cool and I love the idea of the smart features, but it's not a dual-sensor detector. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/02/consumer-reports-review-of-nest-protect-smoke-and-co-alarm/index.htm this is good info also: "Smoldering fires, says Walker, account for only about...

    Audio Alerts from smoke detectors?

Same here, and I'd like it for low battery detection in all of my alarms if they weren't $35/ea. In my house, I chase the low battery beeps for a half hr until I find the right one that's doing the chirping. The sound is a terrible choice, hard to locate - such a high frequency that it just...

    Audio Alerts from smoke detectors?

I saw this the other day: http://www.getroost.com It's a "smart" smoke detector battery. Alerts on low battery and alarm. $35 Pretty expensive but if I had only one or two smoke detectors, I might try it out myself. Come to think of it, we have a connected smoke alarm system (one goes off they...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

I don't like the thought of using a browser to view my cameras but UI2 is really nice as well as the allcams.htm page which resembles the java viewer more (just lesser quality but I guess that's why not much CPU usage). Thanks for the suggestions and all of the help here. Really do appreciate it.

    500 ft POE run

Laughed out loud at this. I hate wireless, but this would actually be a fun thing to try. At a friend's house. Maybe a friend that knows what he's doing so I wouldn't be getting calls to troubleshoot the 1,000 ways it would probably break if I were involved.

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Duhh moment. Noticed something that greatly effects the CPU usage (though can't pin it down to this every time I see a lockup). On my BI server, CPU usage is at 40% when operating normally. Connecting to BI on my LAN using BI Viewer 2.5.2, quality set to High Efficiency, never using Instant...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Wanted to post an update. CPU started spiking again and locking up like crazy. Tried running BI on the SSD while storing Alerts, New, and Stored on the WD Red drive but no help. Wiped the computer clean again, did a clean Win10 install as fenderman suggested. Been running well for 14 hrs so...

    why why why

A foscam was my first wired camera. It was outdoors but under a roof - no rain, direct sun. It died in 4 months and I threw it right in the trash. Replaced it with a small hikvision bullet. Picture was way better and going strong for over a year. Dug up this picture. Of course foscams are...

Ahh, yes. That would be awesome. Hopefully Apple will allow 3rd party apps to control the screensaver, too.

2 - LTD8316T-FT16's with "Connection Failed" errors on NVMS7000 mobile

These are Hik rebranded DVRs. I'm having trouble getting the app on Android to work at all. Logging in from iOS with exact same settings works, though I had to stop using their "cloud" connection after that decided to fail last week for no apparent reason. Now I manually connect to the NVR using...

My Hikvision Cameras Capture Break in Vehicle and Attempt to Enter Home

If someone steps on my porch, Blue Iris sends a "doorbell" sound to my phone w/ a push alert. Dialed in motion detection, masked off areas that triggered false alarms. I get the alert within seconds of someone entering the frame. That's been working so well that last night I set it to text me a...

    Win10 Pro + Remote Desktop + BI4 issue

Abula, have you heard of the Blue Iris Viewer? It was made by bp2008, a guy here on this forum: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php?93-I-made-a-better-remote-live-view-page I personally prefer that to viewing everything over RDP. I use the JAVA version over LAN and it's solid. When I want...
