Install advice under soffit for dome camera, I botched my 1st install... PICS

So I botched my first install (see attached). Hoping for some advice to fix this AND how I can avoid in the future. There is a 2" space between my vinyl sofit and the plywood above. I used the HIKVISION junction box (2" depth) to fill that void and hoped the camera would cover the cut out...

Professional install advice on running cat5 to outside?

I guess nothing, first I was concerned if I should try to wrap the hikvision cable inside the housing, but didn't seem to be enough room, then I thought I will need a junction box and the junction box for the camera looked like it had a side port (like pictured above). But I guess I can just...

Professional install advice on running cat5 to outside?

Thanks! I was hoping to go right into the soffit and avoid running conduit on the exterior of the house. Go right into my attic and route the cable from there.

Help on mounting turret outside under soffits - Confusion on how.

Evening all, I bought some Turrets of my home and having some confusion on how I am going to mount them. I'm planning to put them under the soffits but not sure technically how I get the ethernet cable there. Do I need a junction box? If so, the boxes I saw for the Turret have the port on the...

Hikvision NVR mixed w/ Blue Iris for small residential application

I edited my last post after you started replying... it wasn't that there would be CPU or HDD issues it was that the cameras would cause bandwith /LAN issues and I would need to setup VLAN of some sort... That is what I was worried about. What are your thoughts on that? I was planning on...

Hikvision NVR mixed w/ Blue Iris for small residential application

Ah you know what it was more of causing a LAN issue with bandwith. i'm really not wanting to create another VLAN or something that's why i was leaning to the NVR... Since I'm solo a minimal/residential user, maybe max 7 cameras eventually. I can just do a i5 processer, nice sized internal HDD...

Hikvision NVR mixed w/ Blue Iris for small residential application

Yea, I was considering buying a dedicated CPU, but was reading something about the actual recordings from 5+ cameras to a "standard" HDD may be an issue.

Hikvision NVR mixed w/ Blue Iris for small residential application

Hi all.. Planning on setting up some cameras, inside and out. Going w/ Hikvision turrets most likely. I was originally planning on going only w/ Blue Iris but then realized it will be a burden on my CPU so then was going to get a Hikvision NVR to make it easier. One question - can I do both...

Mid-range IP residential system for indoor/outdoor Turret vs Dome. First time setup

Evening all... So I've been doing some research and starting a partial remodel on the house. Want to take advantage and put about 4-6 IP POE cameras outside and 2-3 inside. The outside ones will be mounted under soffits of roof and pointing to sidewalk which I would say is about 50' max. same...
