DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

I made the mistake of buying my Hik NVR from a local distributor- in case of warranty or firmware issues. I then discovered I'm locked into using firmware from Hikvision Australia- the problem is they don't bother releasing the latest firmware that's available from overseas Hik sites. So I'm...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

When I've had issues, using "Plug and Play" and then reverting back to a manual connection has fixed things. That's using a Hik NVR as well.

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

Yes, I know what you mean. That can possibly be reduced adjusting the noise reduction- using the Expert setting like I mentioned in the settings previously. The top line (Space DNR) can introduce that "movement" and that's why I leave it set to zero on my cameras. It's not a big deal if it's...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

What do cropped stills of faces look like with the current setup? As aster1x mentioned, at the default 1/25th sec exposure you will have some degree of motion blur if anyone is moving- even at walking pace. BLC - Auto should help with the driveway overexposure. You're going to need some low...

Yes, play around with WDR settings and also adjust the contrast level right down.

@Kilojade have you tried walking around to test how good the image is with movement?

Mic options for Turrent and Bullet cameras?

I've got the 3MP varifocal turret DS-2CD2H35FWD-IS and have a Hikvision mic connected. The generic Hik instructions show you can use either a 3.5mm mono or stereo plug to connect the mic to the camera- note that only a 3.5mm stereo plug will work (with both the L&R channels shorted together for...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

Yes, I'm aware of the motion blur issues at 1/25th (which is the default lowest speed.) The problem is running 1/50th (or higher) at night reduces the light sensitivity and you can end up with excessive noise- also resulting in a useless image. For close up subjects it's easier to provide...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

One other setting I'm trialing is setting the exposure to 1/100th sec for the Day schedule. It improves the stills and makes details (eg. faces) clearer. In low light it will cause more noise, so I've left "Night" at 1/25th.

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

Yes. I found BLC on during the day will totally over expose objects in the sun. WDR works well (at low levels) during the day (for showing up details in shadows) but I've found it introduces a lot of noise at night. So try BLC at night and WDR during the day - that's what works best for me...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

This is what I'm using for night settings in colour. (Note: The previous posts I've been mentioning "HLC", I should have said "BLC" - sorry....) Under "Configuration", "Image" (I'm using "Scheduled Switch" so I can run different settings for day and night.) "Night" "Image Adjustment"...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

If it's anything like in Australia they'd be using stolen number plates on the car. So getting that info may not be of much assistance.

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

@Kilojade , damn that's a bad situation with people trying to steal it. The "HLC" (high light control?) setting on the 2335FWD-I helps to even the exposure levels out at night, without it I get overexposed/ washed out areas. All of my LED lights are flood lights- to try and even out the spread...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

From memory: Leave your IR "On", set the sensitivity to 7 (that will still turn the IR on if you lose your visible lighting) Turn "WDR" off and use "HLC" (on auto IIRC) Noise reduction on "Expert" and leave the top line at zero and the bottom around 30-50% I'll check for sure later. I recently...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

I'm not sure where you're getting that from? The 3MP(fixed or varifocal) is rated slightly better for min Lux levels. Not directly related to the above, but with Hik datasheets you need to make sure you're reading the Lux rating relevant to the f stop of the lens fitted. They usually give two...

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

The 4MP range is new, but they appear to have renamed all of them to "powered by dark fighter". Including the DS-2CD2335FWD-I in this thread. eg. DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd.

DS-2CD2335FWD-I - Hikvision Ultra Low Light 3M camera

1/12 will give you great still pictures, but anything moving will be a blur. They have got a new 4MP "powered by darkfighter" camera. I posted a thread on it a few weeks back. New Hik 4MP "Powered by Darkfighter" DS-2CD2H45FWD-IZS DS-2CD2345FWD-I You also mentioned varifocals, the 3MP...

    3 MP WDR Vari-focal DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS

Regarding the IR on the DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS: I was playing with the manual IR settings and noticed Hik have got a "Low Beam" and "High Beam" setting (possibly not the exact terms used.) Think of it like car headlights- low beam gives you a wide spread (but shorter throw) for when the lens is at...

New Hik 4MP "Powered by Darkfighter" DS-2CD2H45FWD-IZS DS-2CD2345FWD-I

I didn't see these new 4MP low light "Powered by Darkfighter" cameras mentioned anywhere- apologies if they have been. Varifocal version DS-2CD2H45FWD-IZS : Min. Illumination: Color: 0.008 lux @(F1.2, AGC ON), 0.011 lux @(F1.4, AGC ON), 0 lux with IR 1/2.5" Progressive Scan CMOS 2.8 to 12 mm...

Hikvision Firmware Upgrade Problems or Not?

No, there's no "WR" in the serial number viewed in the webpage config. It's got "CCRR" and "WCVU" in it. The serial number on the box is just numbers and I can't find a serial number on the actual NVR - it's bolted into a cabinet and I can't see the bottom. Using a mirror there's nothing on the...

    Hikvision DS-2CD2335FWD-I 3 MP 2.8mm vs 4mm.

The 4mm does seem to be out of focus. I've got 4mm and 6mm versions- the 4mm cameras appear a lot better even after refocusing the single 6mm. I don't know what the lens quality is like, but it doesn't seem so good. :( I've got two of the Hik 3MP low light varifocals DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS and the...

    Limiting EXIR coverage

Swapping to a lens with more magnification would also be worthwhile- there's not much point covering so much of the neighbour's yard. Below is the same camera with a 16mm lens fitted. I've since changed it to a lower magnification as 16mm was a bit too much! The gate is around 10-12m from...

    Limiting EXIR coverage

@lunokhod I've got a couple of 2342's that I'm using in a similar situation. They both suffer from really bad IR reflections and I've ended up turning off the on board IR. I've instead set up PIR sensor lights (visible light) and have the cameras set to colour 24/7. You can run either mains...

    Bullet Mic Review

This turned out to be the Hik camera requiring a mono 3.5mm plug - the stereo 3.5mm (with both channels connected together) won't work. Even though Hik instructions on connecting a powered mic show both as an option. I haven't permanently connected this bullet mic up, but quick testing shows...

    3 MP WDR Vari-focal DS-2CD2H35FWD-IZS

The design is a PITA to mount. You secure a metal plate to the desired mounting surface; the plate has three raised slots on it (for raised screws on the camera's base to fit in) as well as a hook to hang the camera off while you're installing it (via a safety cord on the camera itself.) The...
