    Camera reliability?

It might be useful info for forum users here and maybe even for the cam makers? Also what or how does having no warranty directly affect being able to fix it? I’ve fixed a whole host of things in my house none of which had any warranty! I’ve fixed my Buffalo NAS (bad cap), my Dell managed...

    Camera reliability?

I know people are saying troll etc but I’ve given him the benefit of the doubt but am now beginning to wonder. If the OP knew why the cams have failed then wouldn’t it have been better to post stating my cam x has failed for reason y, has this happened to anybody else. If I have a problem with...

Blue iris and Windows 10 vs Windows 11

I watched a video last month where it was stated that MS have now started blocking the bypasses including the bypasses that they themselves previously allowed. I really can’t understand why they are doing this but the push for the reasons of added security is their reasoning. It should be...

    Zerotier Blue Iris

Yes you need to make sure that the BI web service will bond to multiple ip/adapters so that the web service is available on both the local ip but also the zerotier virtual adapter.

    Zerotier Blue Iris

There’s an option in BI to bind to only a single ip/adapter, check to see how that is set?

If it’s like Tailscale have you tried using the dns address that gets configured? I have Tailscale and using the dns address automatically enables the vpn and allows me to connect.

    Camera reliability?

I’m not saying any such thing, the clue is in the word maybe? As an engineer are you not in the least bit curious as to what might be wrong with the cam(s)? Open them up and see if there’s anything obvious that you can see?

    Camera reliability?

Maybe the firmware is corrupt, have you tried updating the firmware with the cam sat on your bench with a known good Ethernet cable?

Don’t think I can be bothered to read the entire thread but what config did you or do you use in your cams and the cams that failed?

The Engineer field must be special? I work in IT and never ever mention it as frankly I find it embarrassing [emoji3] and the instant I mention it people want their old clapped out PCs fixed [emoji3]

    Camera reliability?

And breath ..... :) I got my Dahua 5231-ze cams back in 2019, so 4 years old now. Plan was to replace them as they died with newer models but the damn things just keep working. With them now being 4 years old and counting, if they started dying would I contact Andy, yep I would but to ask for...

New build CAT6 camera cabling through a wall

You can get plasterboard which has insulation attached and can also be foil backed but no idea if that is what the OP is going to use.

New build CAT6 camera cabling through a wall

Personally I’d run all the cabling in trunking so if the worst happens at least you have a slim possibility of being able to pull a cable through if one gets damaged. Although the dab method will provide a gap you can’t rely upon that if you need to replace the cable as you don’t know if the...

    Writing to two HDs

Personally I would just write straight to the target NAS, even more so if the storage areas that you are moving between are on the same NAS. Why faff around with moving data around?

Giving up on PC + Blue Iris- should I try an NVR?

Giving up on PC + Blue Iris- should I try an NVR?

My BI PC has never spontaneously rebooted but there again I did do some googling on how to block updates and driver updates?

I hate my Dahua's Motion detection / IVF. Is there anything better?

I would do something like this, you need you leave areas where the cam can detect something moving from one area to the next. My 2 driveway cams haven’t missed a trigger when I least reviewed them, also if possible and you have another cam overlooking that area think about group triggers/alerts...

    Robbery in Habana Vieja

It’s all too easy to say go all Liam Neeson after the event but I think unless you are 100% confident of your capabilities then most won’t even think it and is it worth the risk as things could escalate. I think for the poor girl it all fell apart when the other guy started touching her and...

    PC upgrade question

What @Flintstone61 said above, try disabling hardware acceleration, I did recently and that dropped my CPU usage from around 30% to 20% which came as bit of a shock as logically offloading something you would think would be beneficial?

Does BI ever go on sale? It kind of irks me that non-subscription cost more and there is no lifetime option

It is what it is, go do the cheaper option and then post here asking how to cancel the auto-renewal [emoji3]
