    Camera's web interface can record 30fps h.264 direct to PC HDD with no dropouts, but I gave up and changed to 20 fps. At 20 fps Blue Iris recordings aren't dropping frames. 20 fps will give camera at least two good frames at speeds of 60 mph or six frames at my street's typical speeds.

    HikVision DS-2CD2347G1-LU and its internal microphone is giving me much better sound using 256kbps 44.1kHz MP3 than my other cameras with external mics and G711.ulaw. I couldn't get PCM to work with Blue Iris, but the 256 MP3 is great. Edit for clarity: Blue Iris will work with 256 MP3.

    I use heavy landscape lighting copper conductor for 12volt runs. For power supply Meanwell makes a myriad of solutions. Note that low landscape lighting kit transformers output A/C to filament bulbs. You want D/C. Look for LED waterproof one of suitable wattage.

    I've used a FS726TP V1H2 sporadically for two years (eBay score $40 with two GBICs) and it works well, but it is really noisy compared to my newer POE+ NETGEAR 16-Port GS418TPP or NETGEAR 8-Port GS510TP. If 8 ports is enough GS510TP are going for <$100 on eBay.
