    N55DU82 Firmware advice

I have several 5442T, Color 4K-X, and N55DU82 cameras installed at my home and realized that four of the N55DU82 cams have dissimilar firmware versions. I would like them to use the same firmware. The most recent firmware on one of the cameras has a build date of 1-22-2021. When I went on the...

Usually the UPS driver throws my packages over the fence. Too lazy to open the gate with one finger. A couple days ago this is how he left my package on the street. Luckily I was home to see it on my security cameras before someone could snatch the package.

type of flex conduit for bury ethernet cable installation in backyard

I used flexible conduit for my Color 4K-X camera that goes out to the street from my house. It worked great. Here is a link to some 1/2", but I used 3/4" with the direct burial CAT6 cable. https://www.amazon.com/Sealproof-Flexible-Nonmetallic-Liquid-Tight-Electrical/dp/B0756MHW7K?th=1

    4K driveway cam?

The bulbs in the fixtures should work fine, but I would have a concern with the light bleed from the bulbs and reflecting directly back to the camera. I think directional lights would make more sense. Maybe you could take your wife out to a nice dinner and then make the suggestion to stop by the...

    4K driveway cam?

As wittaj recommended, it is always best to have a light on at all times for the Color 4K cameras. After trying different combinations of lights, I found that a dusk-to-dawn 20 watt LED (150w equivalent) works perfectly with a couple 41-watt motion-sensing lights on the sides of my garage. It...

    4K driveway cam?

Is that your garage in the picture? If it is, I think a directional light placed on each side would give the Color 4K-X plenty of light. You wouldn't have to worry about the soffit reflection because you wouldn't be using the camera's white lights. I have one a Color 4K-X overlooking a street...

    dreaded day light savings time

Great to hear. You mentioned that you set the time manually. Is there a reason you don't set it automatically with SmartPSS? This is how I set mine. Device CFG<General<Time Setup (see attached)

    Compression setting question

Thank you so much. That's exactly the information I wanted. I wondered if I'd be saving anything by going with H.265 in the sub-stream. I appreciate the the time you took to answer this.

    Compression setting question

I have a question about video settings. Following the recommendation of others, I set my cameras for H.264 encoding, as it definitely provides the best resolution; but my question is, does the main stream and sub-stream encoding method have to match? If I were to set the main stream for H.264...

    Watchdogs

This is too funny. I have really enjoyed getting into the IP camera game this past year, and checking this forum each morning is one of the first things I do to start off my day. I realized that my dogs enjoy the IP cameras as much as I do. They will jump up on my office chair and stare at the...

    Interesting test of IPC-Color 4K-X

Excellent comments. I appreciate the feedback. Yes, after experimenting with both cameras for about a week, I switched back to the 2.8mm. There is not much difference in the field of view as you mentioned, but one interesting thing I found is that with LDC turned "on" in both cameras, there is...

    Interesting test of IPC-Color 4K-X

Today I swapped out a 2.8mm IPC-Color 4K-X with a 3.6mm IPC-Color 4K-X in the same location. I wanted to see how much difference there was between the two cameras with each having the SAME settings. I assumed the 2.8mm would have better depth of field and the 3.6mm would allow a little more...

    Outdoor CMX white ethernet cable

The second cable you listed above I used last week when installing a Color 4K-X outside. It has been working flawlessly. I used 3/4" schedule 40 PVC for the run and then some flexible PVC to connect to the camera's backbox on a metal post. Really good cable and easy to snake through the PVC...

    Totally confused about FPS/key

This video might give you a little insight as to how well certain cameras work at night. For some reason, the neighborhood I live in has lost dogs posted just about every day in local news feeds, so I check my cameras every morning to see if any of the animals wandered by my house. Though I am...

    Dahua PFB203W vs PFB204W

It you really want something strong, you could use a galvanized metal post. This is how I mounted my Color 4K-X yesterday. By using a backbox, you would have plenty of room for the cable hookup.

    Dahua PFB203W vs PFB204W

Doesn't move at all in the wind, and pvc is quite strong. I would be more worried about having a basketball hit the camera than I would hitting the post. Also, the post can easily be spray-painted to match the surroundings.

    Dahua PFB203W vs PFB204W

I followed the lead of another forum member and mounted mine on a pvc post. What's great about it is that you have all the room in the world inside the post to make the connections.

    SmartPSS on macOS Catalina

I checked my system, and I am running the exact version you are using. Booted up the older version you linked, but no difference in image quality. Hmmm Are you sure your preference in SmartPSS is set for the main stream? Here's a thought... Are you using a DVR? Did you make all the image...

    SmartPSS on macOS Catalina

How is it dim? I have not experienced that with my M1 Mac running SmartPSS. Can you post a screenshot? Compared to running SmartPSS on my PC, this M1 version is so much better on my Mac. I can open every camera window, and the app doesn't slow down at all, which was a huge problem with the Intel...

On your Dahua NVR, go to the main menu and login. You will then click on "settings." You get there by clicking on the right arrow at the bottom of the screen (just under "maintain"). Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HFW5449T1-ASE+D2 - Dual Lens Full Color 2.0

I absolutely love the PTZ. Every morning when I review footage from the cameras I find new things that happened over night. The tracking ability of that camera is well worth the cost. Nothing strange about someone carrying a tv or computer monitor down my driveway at 1:20AM, right? Ha ha
