There has to be a lot of BS hocus-pocus with this Intel deal. Look at the confusing statements in the same report: The U.S. agreed to purchase a 9.9% stake in Intel for $8.9 billion at a price of $20.47 a share, The government will purchase the 433.3 million shares with funding from the $5.7...

Anybody else remember what a fried selenium rectifier smells like? Wikipedia: During catastrophic failure they produce significant quantities of malodorous and highly toxic hydrogen selenide that let the repair technician know what the problem was.

On tariffs, I'm looking at it just the opposite, saying short term it's a bad thing because it will raise prices and disrupt commerce. Long term a good thing by bringing more jobs, manufacturing and know-how back into the country. Besides plain old common sense, it's a national security issue...

    NVR vs Blue Iris

There are so many existing threads for this and I'm too lazy to write up my take on it again. Without any specifics, there are pros and cons to both, and there's a pretty big polarization for one way or the other from different forum members. For myself, I'm running both in parallel because...

How would you do this install, that has a 3 ft crawl space?

I'm no expert, but I think if you drill from the inside out you might end up with a pretty ugly exit hole. Could avoid that by drilling a small hole from the inside to be a locator, then drill the big one from the outside.

New Study Links Fenbendazole to Remission or Near-Remission in Three Stage IV Cancer Patients

A few states have made Ivermectin OTC, but all of the USA sources I've looked at are price gouging. I've had a few batches of various meds shipped from India pharmacies and they've all worked out. They actually ship from some small island, to minimize shipping and/or customs hassles I presume...

Agreed, plus in the case of computer science degrees, I suspect a big part of this is the typical overshoot that happens with large supply and demand systems. The lure of the "six figure salaries" I'm guessing created an oversupply of degree holders, while at the same time the industry matured...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Maybe this article is true, maybe not, I'm not addressing that. But it's another example of journalistic malpractice. The first sentence says : "A chilling new analysis has revealed that sudden deaths among younger airline pilots continue to surge", yet one example with numbers says "Since...

How would you do this install, that has a 3 ft crawl space?

I had the best result on a concrete foundation using a core drill that attaches to an angle grinder. Hole size was 1-3/4", for 1-1/2" PVC. It makes for a pretty clean hole instead of the ragged edges with a hammer drill, especially at the exit end. I was pretty intimidated by this thing...

What would happen if America started faking its economic data? As if it hasn't already been faked for a long time? Only need to look at the phony inflation numbers and deficit forecasts. "While there’s no indication the data has been rigged (assertions from the White House aside) – or will...

Balanced budget and no inflationary increase in the money supply. Let the people see how much they're really paying in, instead of stealing behind their back. Not a realistic solution, however, because it's the thieves, liars, and power hungry who migrate to government, while most honest...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

This is all very interesting. The specs and features make it sound like PRO is the premium line, but as often happens, it's all about marketing. Your comment about the IL line being the continuation of the 5442 looks to be very true. Things like specs for the lenses, light sensitivity...

    Mystery part (SOLVED)

After about 6 weeks the mystery is solved. The red doohickey fell out of the handle of my half inch torque wrench. I'd like to claim that I finally remembered, but the truth is that I used the wrench today, and when ready lock the torque setting, the turn-to-lock part wasn't there. Good...

    Israel attacked by Hamas...

This Israel-Palestine debate reminds me, structure-wise, of something I was involved in. One time when I was a t-ball coach, kid #2 hit kid #1 on the head with a bat. Cut and dry who's innocent and who's guilty, right? Wrong. Digging deeper, #1 had done something nasty to #2, preceded by #2...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

The problem is that no sane person would want the job, we therefore never have the opportunity to vote for a sane person. Applies also to most of congress, governors, and mayors.
