AI functionality is better that unifi one (especially before G6 cams). Video performance (at night especially) kills everything from Ubiquiti. Problem with HIK / Dahua is that they have old software platforms.. with old UI / UX. Not so good NVR interface - functional, but you must learn it... -

You probably have POE version, which could have less space inside... I always use non-POE version, picture from my 5232-EI... there is totally different mounting mechanism (no extra bracket in my)..- steve1225

And how much typical installation using Avigilon cost? Camera alone? Plus Avigilon VMS server & license for that functionality? For now I have one test camera. Installed in "easy" place where old AI worked very well - so new AI do well. But I ordered 20 new 54PRO cams from Andy for next... -

I played coral TPU with Frigate 1-2 years ago - and for me Frigate AI detection (using coral) is a toy.. Big number of false positives or wrong classifications. IVS on modern Dahua cams worked for me 10x better... Of course - probably Frigate AI today is much better than was 1-2 years ago. But... -

But this is not Dahua decision... Simply ONVIF as a standard & organisation is not here.. And never have been. Don't support new features.. And no one is extending this standard fast enought... Or is extending with features a few years later after manufacturers implement them. Big plus with... -

there is one solution for that problem, which BIG VMS'es are using... those have 'drivers' to cams.. so they have basic ONVIF support... plus some extended 'Dahua driver', 'HIK driver', 'AXIS driver', 'Avigilon driver' etc, which are using Dahua/HIK/Axis/Avigilon private API to implement... -

Help me choose between these cams?
you comparing higher 5-line Dahua AI-ISP cam with lower 2-line HIK Vision AI-ISP cam... of course 5859-PRO is better here.. more comparable will be Dahua 3449-PRO for that HIK vision model.. you should more select in what ecosystem (NVR, mobile app, web panel) you want to live: Dahua or HIK... -

ONVIF is a dead end.. As I wrote many times on this forum, more & more new features will work only with Dahua NVRs, Dahua IVSS servers or Dahua VMS software (DSS Pro)... And exported only by Dahua APIs, not ONVIF... Also processing for more & more features are divided between cameras and... -
NVR writing to different HDDs
one more time - RAID5/RAID6 are for mostly reading applications.. not writing ones... they work ok for most NAS environments.. but not for NVRs.. if you want play with RAID and if you have NVR which supports RAID's - look at RAID1 (2 HDD) or RAID10 (4 or more)...- steve1225

normal mechanical 3.5" HDD have something like 150 MB/s read/write performance... it's 150MB/s * 8bit = 1200 mbit/s... in normal house market installations with <= 16 camera channels is almost impossible to oversaturate this.. in bigger installations, base solution is disk/channel grouping...- steve1225

is nice to add extra heatsinks like this... but this don't solve problem that factory fans in NVRs are loud as hell... especially that ones in smaller (1u) units.. replacing fan with NF a4x20 is fastest & cheapest noise solution for NVRs...- steve1225

NVR writing to different HDDs
raid5 & raid6 are very slow in writing.. only fast for reading... and they require minimum 3 & 4 HDDss... if your recorder have that option, you can create RAID1 (mirror) of 2 HDDs.. or RAID10 of 4HDDs.. if not, you can split HDDs into 2 separate groups in NVR configuration.. and then select...- steve1225

I always cut the groves using knife.. zero problems, it works for many years... NF a4x20 is better than NF a4x10... 2x wide, it moves much more air with much less noise..- steve1225

those settings are base.. you can play with them... I don't see rest of full video frame.. but shutter/gain settings will change how full frame with car/street look - you can try 1/200 (0.005s) as shutter speed... IR settings (especially manual near/far) will decide how IR lighting distribute...- steve1225

There are two ways of doing this... First are using very fast exposure times (like 1/1000 or 1/2000) to capture only plates.. Second is using WDR trick with much more normal exposure times (1/100 to 1/200) and very strong IR light... plates are very reflective and should be very over exposure...- steve1225

NVR is hardware products (not software on Windows) - it have very hard spec sheet and max limits. They guarantee how many stream can be decoded with/without AI and don't allow to more even if NVR is doing nothing. Get it from Andy... 608-XI have big drop in network bandwidth/decoding capabilities when you enable AI on NVR... You have 12 Mpx cams, so for you this is a big problem :) new (2025) NVR's (like 5xxx-EI2 or not released yet 5xxx-XI-PRO with WizSeek) based on never chipsets don't have this...- steve1225
