    Windows Remote Desktop Replacement?

I use Ubuntu RDC (Remmina) with Windows and BSD and Linux desktop servers. Remmina does VNC and RDP. I have no issues. I also have used NoMachine. I would recommend it for Windows users. I do not use Windows 11 desktop to remote to any devices on my network. A while back switched my...

Anyone out there tried these Wago connectors?

I had to install two automated switches in old house in a few rooms that had ceiling fans / lights / switched outlets and used Wago nuts. Still very tight and all of the boxes were metal so used a plastic mud plate to expand space. 1/2 of the duplex wall outlets were switched at the wall...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

My motion sensor here is mostly cracked. Never used it much as it was very sensitive. It does get warm. That said it is working fine today. Thinking you asked on Cocoontech about ONVIF. There is software in Windows and Linux to check features. It is also part of the Home Assistant add on...

Running cabling "out" through vinyl siding, and up the exterior for mounting location // Street view location

In the two story house the attic was 9 foot high in the middle. I built a catwalk out of 4' X 4's in the middle of the attic from one side to another and put lighting in along the top, This made it easy to wire the bedrooms and hallway. Put a chase in the middle of the attic down to the...

IPcams outside looking towards house, and elsewhere

I had irrigation installed in my old house and used irrigation lines for outside cameras facing the house. I put two in back in berms and one in the front berm. I used 6 X 6 posts and drilled holes in the middle of the posts down past ground level. Posts were about 6 foot and buried 2 feet...

Running cabling "out" through vinyl siding, and up the exterior for mounting location // Street view location

I just installed a camera on the corner under the eave. I ran the cable in the corner piece of the siding down to water spigot level. I put caulking in the hole and sealed the top using a siding repair kit then painted it the same color as the siding. Here is the view: I did similar in...

    HOME ASSISTANT (Assist) Voice Assistant

I had looked at this. Printing it would be with Edward as he purchased a new Bamboo printer. I am not getting really good prints unless the design is really simple.

    Camera placement under deck

When I finished my deck I built a chase from the house out to the end of the deck. It was 120VAC, switched 120VAC for a lamp over the grill, natural gas line, 12VDC, camera POE wires and speaker cable for outdoor speakers. The chase was a bit hidden with cross support beams. coming right...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Personally what I did while running my Lenova Tiny PC. No smartphone app used. Used / Using a Lenova Tiny is running W2016 standard Windows server. (XP, W7, W8, W10 and W11 should also work) Note its been a long time that I have done this and I keep referring to AI Google searches which end...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Personally I would configure it at home on your workbench leaving the firmware alone then updating to the Hikvision firmware. On the workbench just attach a power cord to an AC doorbell transformer (buy it from Amazon then return it once you have completed your testing).

    Hello and thanks from Indiana

We just moved from Illinois to Indiana and had some kitchen cabinet work a couple of months ago. The guy did a great job with the kitchen cabinet modifications at a reasonable cost. The guy doing the cabinet work had a few cameras up where he hunted near by and kept looking at alerts from his...

    Why I hate phones...

Here too leave the phone off unless I am in the automobile. I also use Google voice and only give that number out as a cell phone. Only read texts when using Google mail. Never been tethered to any of my cell phones for work or play.

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Great news. Interesting I have been using Google AI too here. Most of it though is from here on the forum. Thinking my spontaneous change to AP mode was due to taxing the CPU on the Video Doorbell. I use Ruckus AP's here and have three where as I only really need one. What was happening was...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

So set the SSID and password to your home WAP initially using DHCP. Also change the admin password and create a new user. Rebooting it will connect to your home WAP. Here used a Lenova Tiny running WIndows 2016 server. It has a WLAN card and it is connected to the LAN via Ethernet port. I...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

There is a referral to an article here in the forum posts above as to why the DB goes to AP mode. For me it was too many calls to the DB to my touchscreens. Now using a proxy and do not get any resets. I saved the password here and IP under batch configuration as it is always the same to...
