In Texas, we have the Lone Star Card program. My Mom, who use to work at Walmart, would watch people bring steaks to the cashier and pay with the STAR Card. Mom, as a teenager, went through WWII in Germany with no meat...mainly potatoes.

Many of those types in the YT video you posted earlier will forgo having lights, water and food before they'll give up phone, nails, hair, clothes and all those other "necessities"....especially if they can get responsible, tax-paying, working people to pay for their stuff and their lifestyle.

And why not? According to them, they are "entitled" to such considerations from the "priviledged." :banghead:

Is this gaslighting, incompetence, fraud, or what?

Yahoo "news" headline says

Capture.JPG

Sounds pretty clear to me. But the headline for the story it links to says something different

Capture1.JPG

And the text of the story says

capture2.jpg

Exactly OPPOSITE of the yahoo headline. Can we believe anything we read or hear?

Happy Halloween all you WTFers!

@TonyR @David L

As I was getting emotionally dragged around on this .. I finally put on my thinking cap and was wondering how on earth do some of these folks actually get $5-7k a week on SNAP .. and the soda and junk food ..

Turns out it really is not typically possible to do that, and a LOT of the videos we see are created by "influencers" to get video hits, and are not truthful.
( drama queens, emotional manipulators, fake news, call it what you will .. )

the stats and facts ..

SNAP benefits, looks like average is $188 per person per month .. and there is a cap.

I am aware of this. I didn't get to my age by having my head buried in the sand. This serves me well now, especially with the "fakery" we're seeing now provided by AI.

That said I can personally attest to the reality of quite a few of the types posted in David L's YT video that "....will forgo having lights, water and food before they'll give up phone, nails, hair, clothes and all those other "necessities"....especially if they can get responsible, tax-paying, working people to pay for their stuff and their lifestyle" as I posted in MY rant above.

I know of many AND had one living IN MY HOUSE for almost 6 years. My stepson parked his lazy a$$ here and worked when he felt like it, got free food, room and board, laundry and taxi service, contributed nothing to help and would not even help me with lawn mowing when I began cancer treatment earier this year. He capped off his stay by walking out the door this past Memorial Day with my 2 piece Makita impact drill and driver set, driving a 2013 Camry his mother and I sold him for weekly payments. We haven't heard from or seen him since. He made 2 payments on the car and is currently behind 10 months worth!

I turned off the cell service on the phone that was on my account after a month but the 49 year-old thief now sits around with another do-nothing addict, using Wi-Fi and posting on his FarceBook page about how he's been mistreated, how no one will help him, how people owe him and how everything is someone else's fault, he's not responsible for any part of his situation and predicament. Oh, almost forgot.....a month after he left he stole a window A/C out of my wife's old house in another town where her birth-mom lived, wife had to put her into a nursing home and he saw that it was vacant, stole it and put it up for sale on a local FarceBook marketplace site. He also has other items on several similar local marketplace sites, only God knows where he got those...a digital measuring tape, welding torches, air wrenches, various hand tools, cordless phones, a 40 gal electric water heater and a 2 ton heat pump.

My point? As I said I am aware of YT and social media fakery and monetizing....but you get to know what IS real when you see it with your own eyes IN PERSON and/or experience it first hand.

Sad you are going through this, especially also dealing with C. I truly feel for you.

He needs a little jail time to come to reality, sadly...not meaning any ill will but when they are stripped with no phones, no nothing and told what they have to do, daily, what they have to eat, what they have to wear, it is good medicine, IMO, to break bad habits. My prayer may be harsh but I pray he gets caught and have to deal with reality/consequences. The hard part, maybe, is for your wife to say NO when he cries out for help from jail. This is where many parents make their mistakes...you will be hated for a time but in the long run, if they change, it is worth the pain...IMO

One thing I noticed, back before all of these electronic magnet/addictive devices, families use to go through this with their drug addicted loved ones. Stealing, lying, etc. Most did not call the authorities, and if they did, they would normally brush it off as a family matter. So to my point, I don't see any difference between a drug addict and a electronic (Social Media) addict. Well actually I think the electronic addicts are more dangerous. Look at what Social Media has done, how it influenced our young society.

Just read the headlines of all the shootings...

So to my point, here is the results...

I am posting this here because every time I see these type of videos I say WTF has happened to our world...

Keep in mind, many of our most recent shootings are from these type of confused people...Social Media/MSM influenced, IMO

I totally agree, jail would be a good thing. But unfortunately, one thing he is VERY good at, as he's had lots of practice.....avoiding LEO. He knows the in's and out's, how far to take something and even knows more about the law than most people. Not to make light of this but he'd make a good criminal attorney...boy, that's either stating an oxymoron or just being redundant.

MOF, there's 2 warrants out for him now.....FTA on a DUI in one town and theft in another town (that window A/C)...his mother turned him in (we had pictures of the A/C missing from the window and pictures of it for sale on Farcebook). But these small town cops don't seem to get very enthusiastic unless they get a chance to perform a PIT/TIA on a moving vehicle and drag someone out through the driver's side window.

OK---- my computer just went black screen at 1:40pm... hmmmm. No notice of shutdown, and I was using it at the time. It was still running, but the monitors went black (no signal) and went to sleep. Look at this Event weirdness...

This may indicate the culprit... I think my AMD graphics card is not playing nice...
Input Output Memory Management Unit controls RAM access/use by peripherals/devices (graphics cards)

I remember back in the day checking the event logs was almost weekly chore. Been awhile...
