Looking to Replace my PTZ camera with a newer model

You may have to live with that to get more detail and objects of interest not overexposed. For example check what fair skinned people's faces are like with the camera's light shining on them. Sometimes they can end up over exposed- that's primarily why I had to start using HLC (/WDR with the PTZ.)

Looking to Replace my PTZ camera with a newer model

With my Colorvu's I was using HLC, which then had an adjustable level for it. On my G2 Colorvu's the HLC adjustment does have a distinct step in the operation and isn't linear over the scale. Once you reach that step (around 40% IIRC) there's a big difference for number plates and the like. The...

Looking to Replace my PTZ camera with a newer model

HLC (or WDR, if the HLC level isn't adjustable- like on my PTZ) will help control the over exposure on the pole- which is why the holes can't be seen with the lights on. It also helps makes vehicle number plates legible when they are totally overexposed and appear as a white blob at night.

Is that the right link? It's all about setting up the white light for Colorvu cameras- nothing specifically for PTZ cameras.

That's right, I forgot you had a Dahua previously. I was thinking you knew the Hikvisions. I ended up with a DS-2DE4A425IWG-E, my first PTZ so a steep learning curve. There wasn't a manual in the box- but I just found one online... So, 111 pages of light reading for tomorrow.

Looking to Replace my PTZ camera with a newer model

 That's great to hear- in Australia you're likely to have your neighbours complain about invasion of their privacy. Then try to get it removed by complaining to the authorities. A PTZ question - is there a guide anywhere on what each of the tracking settings do on the Hikvision PTZ...

    Hikvision iDS-2CD7A46G0/P-IZHS(Y) ANPR

I noticed that camera you're looking at says it's got the older DarkFighter technology- have you looked into the Hikvision Ultra series cameras? The versions with DarkFighter 2.0 tech may suit both your purposes. There are some Youtube videos explaining how it works, but I've got no idea if it's...

    DS-2DE4A425IW-DE vs DS-2DE4A425IWG-E ?

Reviving an old thread. I just ordered the DS-2DE4A425IWG-E and they now also list a third similar model, the DS-2DE4A425IWG1-E . Some of the lens specs are different with a slightly different FOV at the lower and higher end of the zoom for the WG1-E so a different lens is used? But they also...

Were the factory seals intact on the box?

So they're claiming the lens is f1.2 over it's full magnification range? Most spec sheets give the aperture opening range for the lens full magnification range- but they've only listed it as "Maximum f1.2" for that model. It will be interesting to see what you find in real world testing.

Looking to Replace my PTZ camera with a newer model

Okay, thanks. I'd like that camera, but the size probably makes it a bit to conspicuous. It's very abnormal for people in Australia to have cameras like that on their houses- the neighbours will think I'm dealing or something! Do you have a Hikvision NVR also (from memory)? If you have (and...

Looking to Replace my PTZ camera with a newer model

Hi Parley, I've been thinking about getting a PTZ - who did you buy it through? Any reason for switching to Hikvision and not going with Dahua again?

Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2H - ok at night or better with larger sensor?

Confusion set in there- it doesn't. I can still have Scheduled Switch on. Thanks for your help.

Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2H - ok at night or better with larger sensor?

Well the UI has certainly changed, but no, there's no gain setting under Exposure. I tried all six of the options: Basic, Front Light, Back Light, Low Illumination, Custom 1 and Custom 2. The firmware is Firmware_V5.7.19_241207...

Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2H - ok at night or better with larger sensor?

Okay, I went off to check and it wasn't there - I only had "Iris", " Anti Banding" and the actual exposure. I missed your post @wittaj and have started updating the firmware on one of them. That would be in "Low Illumination" mode IIRC? I'll go back and check now as the update will be done.
