    ok I got into the config page of the cameras. but I don't see anything in there that would cause their siren/alarm to go off. I don't know what brand the NVR is. its a non-branded Hikvision. not sure what that means.

    Hi, I may have the same issue where my camera alarm goes off sometimes at random times. I went to NVR configuration and don't have anything in there to cause this. How do I get into the camera web menu? would I get its ip address in the NVR?

    ok thanks for that info. for the camera that will be at my front entrance/porch, the porch is about 8x5 feet. I would like to capture this entire area. do you think 4mm would cover it or should I go with 2.8mm? the camera will be mounted above the door, at one of the corners of the porch.

    ok so it would seem to be that the best out of the three would be the DS-2CD2347G3-LIS2UY/S(L)(RB) model since its a G3 model and its 4mp and sensor is 1/1.8" and you guys say that is the sweet spot for image quality. and since its 4mp, it should be cheaper than the 8mp camera. would you agree?
