Camera Issue's After Power Down

Getting the hang of it

While away on holidays last week i noticed i couldn't view my cameras. Once home i found the unit off, I've just replaced the power supply and go it going again.

On first power up, i had 3 camera's working but in the wrong order on the screen(i don't have to cables labeled) so swapped them around. Since then, i get incorrect username or password on all camera's. If i change from plug and play to manual, i get network unreachable. I've tried rebooting the router and the unit.

Any idea's?

Howdy @AusGuy

I'm making an assumption here that each of the cameras have different passwords.

I would try changing all 3 channels back to plug and play then unplug all the cameras... try each one of the cameras in PoE port 1 until you hopefully find one that works? Then find one of the remaining 2 cameras that works in PoE port 2... and of course hopefully the remaining camera works in PoE port 3... don't worry about the order on the screen for now, you can fix that later...

Then use the NVR show password option to see what each camera's password is:

Just to add, i lost remote connection with the camera's around last Thursday. I've since discovered the power supply must have died at around 12.30am Saturday, as i can view recordings till then. I also cannot login to the NVR on PC. So maybe there has been/is a network issue.

This is what i get when trying to login to NVR.

Just another update, i powered off the router and the NBN box and can now access the NVR via the network at least.

I bet you tried this already by now... just to narrow things down a bit further, what happens if you turn just the router on leaving the NBN box off... can you then still access the NVR via the network?

Just to clarify, i powered them off and back on to reboot them, so i can access the NVR via web browser with them both on.

I also put another spare camera into slot 5 on the NVR and put the password in and then still get the network unreachable error on that too.

So somehow, me hot swapping the camera locations when i first powered the box up after replacing the power supply, has caused this issue.

You could try plugging your computer's network cable into one of the unused PoE ports on the NVR... if your PC NIC is configured to DHCP it will pick up an IP address on the 192.168.254.xxx subnet, if not configure the PC NIC so it has a 192.168.254.xxx address...

Then see if you can log into the PoE port 1 camera from the web browser using ... this will confirm that is the correct IP address for the camera and that you have the correct username/password...

You can also run SADP on the PC to see if you see anything suspicious there...

Are you able to login to the web GUI for the camera at address 192.168.254.14?

Now we can see something is wrong... that 192.168.254.14 camera address is not in this list:

Suggestion - as it looks like you've re-plugged the cameras into different ports from where they were originally -

In the NVR web GUI, in the Camera Management | IP Channel page (as per your existing screenshot) make a note of the IP addresses and associated channel number the NVR is configured to expect to find the camera on.
Connect the PC to an unused NVR PoE port and run SADP
This will list all the cameras with their IP addresses. It doesn't tell you which channels they are connected to, it's just the order it finds them in.

Then -
Unplug all the cameras, and connect one back up (in any port), let it boot, refresh SADP to see the newly-connected camera IP address.
Now plug that camera into the NVR PoE port that is configured to expect a camera on that IP address, from the list you made earlier.
Repeat for all cameras. You could leave the re-connected camera(s) plugged in if you are careful not to mix up the IP addresses of those you leave in with the next one you're about to connect. Refresh SADP to see the changes.
That will put the cameras back into the ports they were originally connected to and hopefully they will all re-connect..

Thanks again for this help!

So i tried the above, only one camera's IP matched what SADP said. So i had to change it to manual and put the password in, but it WORKED! So two others i had to change the IP on the NVR to match what SADP said, as trying to change it on SADP gave an error. So i have 3 working.

The last one, SADP is saying the IP is completely different to the others, it doesn't even make sense. I changed it on the NVR anyway but still doesn't work. When i highlight it in SADP, the IP section is greyed out, so i can't even try to change it in there. And the spare camera(I want to replace camera 1 with this one) also won't work, after resetting it, it won't learn a proper IP(.254.xx instead of being .1.xx) SADP says it isn't activated but i get an error when trying with SADP.

Here's a screen shot.

PS. I've now labeled the cables :D

So I've kept playing around, I changed the IP on camera 2 through the NVR web GUI, that then changed it on the NVR screen, set the password, still no go. You can see i set it to .10 is the first screen shot, after loading SADP, it changed to .41. You can see though that SADP still shows a different IP that makes no sense.

The camera 007 / 003 on your SADP screenshots is showing a 'self administered IP address' as it has DHCP enabled. Untick DHCP using SADP.
There is no DHCP server (the NVR does not act as one) so it reverts to a random address in the 169.254.x.x address range.

Camera 002 in both your SADP screenshots is showing as 'Inactive' - it's been reset to default settings.
'Activate' it by applying a password of your own choice, using SADP.

** edit ** When the NVR channel is in Plug&Play mode - the NVR would usually automatically Activate an Inactive camera

I just got camera 2 working, i found a YouTube video showing how to change my internet IPv4 setting and then i was able to change the IP address in SADP and it's now working!

Yes, i still don't know why the spare camera won't learn an IP as you say, i have it set to Plug&Play and do a reset and it just sit's on detecting IP camera on the NVR.

I might take to it to my olds and try reset it on their NVR.
