B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Just for grins I ran the 54PRO Z4 and the newly installed 3449 TIOC PRO VF Last night in AI SSA. Which takes most controls away (exp, gain, Iris, NR)

I’ll snag a clip from both and post but what I saw was a beautiful bright video, with motion blur, but relatively nice video.

I think this is part of what they’re trying to do to make it stupid proof.

This really isn't a good sign, do you think the reason is a large amount of installer who don't know or cannot be bothered to set them up? or simply to cater for private buyers to plug, play and say...wow, look how light it is out there :idk:

I think it’s cheaper all the way around through the client ecosystem.

I’m not saying that’s the key problem. Just a result.

I still think they’re simply trying to mask a less than great sensor that for whatever bigger picture supply/economic/political reason they’re stuck with currently

Frustrating isn't it, companies complicate the supply chain of their own products. It isn't rocket science to me, you have a basic line of cameras, cheaper low powered IR or LED base models, then you have the Pro (yes the irony! oh my the irony) line for commercial installers and enthusiasts. Maybe there needs to be an intermediate line with this auto crap, but essentially, quality over quantity.

I realise that many installations have more bad things happening during the day, so night performance might not even be on their list. For all other instances, bad things happen at night, so for the love of all that's holy, focus on the sensors, alongside quality lenses. The rest will fall in place after those two critical areas.

Almost always too much choice in the world these days, with IP cams the different megapixel counts don't help but still. You only need to look at the Dahua website, total minefield for most buyers, commercial or otherwise.

But yes, maybe this is just a costing decision, not the greatest idea to brand them as 'Pro' all things considered but!

I have seven 5442 S3s. From what I'm gathering, it seems my money would be better spent getting the new Pro NVR with the advanced AI search versus upgrading my cams to these Pros.

Unless you have a tight semi enclosed area like at at porch door (6-10 ft max) where the white LEDs might be helpful using the 54PRO AS or the 3449 TIOC PRO fixed lens.

Cannot comment on the NVR but do not buy the Pro models at the moment, they are a hot mess at night and basically anything other than good daylight. Unless as @bigredfish says you have a short range location in mind, then the white LED's might indeed be a bonus.

My S3's (and 4K-T to some degree) are wiping the floor with these Pro's at night, it is not even close. The more footage I see the worse it looks for the Pro. Even my starlight 2mp cameras from 7-8 years ago can freeze motion better, which is pretty poor. Forgive me, I am suffering some buyers remorse :smash:

Too bad we don't have savant hackers who would be able to create our own custom firm wares. :iloveipct:

That would be nice, well above my paygrade that one! I'll take the full custom firmware with manual override on any Ai/Auto pixie dust features, sunset/sunrise profile scheduling and normally expected behaviour with shutter speeds and freezing motion, day and night

For me, the turrent version only comes in the s3 or the pro, unfortunately with 12mm.

Buddy

Can send me this dav file and your setting backup to me? I have to talk with dahua asap. Please send me DM with the details when you have time, thanks a lot.

Yes 100% this, ASAP, I didn't like to flag the previous comment about next firmware end of November, end of this week would be good! - kick them around please Andy @EMPIRETECANDY or get them to employ us for proper testing before release.

Oh, and be sure to keep plenty of S3 bullets in stock :thumb:
